I'm posting this because it's one of the few things I look forward to and I really enjoy it. I'm also stumped on what they could possibly do next or what they should do next.

as far as metal goes it seems like it's all been covered more or less.

What else could they do? What else should they do?

    What do you guys think?

I'd be hoping for a proper Sludge Metal, real Post Metal drum library since the last one they made was inspired by the poseur side of the scene and sounds poseur it cringes super hard. lol

maybe something inspired by the cooler interpretation of the scene for a change :

not gonna happen I know :(

    What they should do?
I'd really like to see something like
EZGuitar, as they already have EZBass,
    EZDrummer, EZKeys and EZMix.
With this you'd have a complete Band, except the singer of course.
This also would give an opportunity to make a plugin from which you could compose for a whole Band and control all the other plugins.
An EZBand, if you will. Technically like the Orb or Captain/Epic plugins.

Oh yeah, a proper post-metal library would be amazing to have. But I too doubt it will happen. I expect something "djenty".

Combines post-metal and focuses on the drummer, perfect for this thread.

It's all redundant at this point. If you can't get the sound you want from something they've released over the years... in my humble opinion you should stop

The NI Session guitars for Kontakt are essentially an "EZGuitar". They don't sound too bad if they're fairly buried in a mix... I've used them to beef up live guitars.

Sorry, not trying to be a party pooper, I'm the biggest drum vst hoarder on the planet. But, I really do feel like Toontrack, GGD and the others are spinning their wheels at this point. They're only releasing more stuff because companies have inertia and that's what you do. I don't think much that's particularly new or interesting is on the horizon, and certainly not in the metal genre. But hey, we'll see.

the problem with drum library is when you use it once, work from the ground up till end, that's it. It can't be used anymore or else you get bored real quick. You are unconsciously telling yourself, "damn this sound the same like previous project". It's amazing how a new drum library can sound fresh every time. as example, the new Stories SDX library, what else is new ? same old same old, but I tried it anyway and found an amazing Premier Elite kit (Art Rock Kit - Stories Main ISO) that sounds really good for me. Strangely enough, it's the same kit my old drummer used back in 2011 when we played together but I didn't quite like it back then, sounded cheap and basic but in the SDX recorded by a proper engineer, it sounds soooo good, and I'm using them for one of the project now and it sparks some old nostalgic post-punk 07' Interpol-inspired ideas out of nowhere and always got me smiling while working for no reason. I don't even know that's what I've been looking for and glad I found it. I think that's the case when drum isn't your main instruments, you'd want something new and fresh from the drum department and it will never be enough.

true that i was thinking about how all the drum and piano libraries we have and we still get bored with it thinking its something better but sometimes the new release adds some effect or some EQ that we haven't did and bring back the inspiration that we wanted ......a lot of times we change in life and we find ourselves liking the things we didn't like in the past it shows u that music is so subjective to the point it explains why it can be so cultural

It would actually be easier and faster for you to learn guitar than it would be to create version of ezguitar worth the bandwidth to download it.

There's already plenty of chug plugins but anything else would be pure hell to create and run.

It'd be the starfield of vst plugins.

I agree. I've gotten wildly different results from mixing the same kit/preset. People have to experiment and make it their own.

After Death SDX I don't think there's anywhere else to go.

Area 33 was a disappointment for me.

Area 33 is EXACTLY a "signature" : limited and caricatural.
You can't do anything else than "Messhugah" mix with it.

Yes we are "served" ... and that's why ToonTrack is releasing NICHE products now.
    Like Area 33

Metal Machine is my fav all round metal drums : complete AND big sound.
Enough material to sculpt MY sound.

    Honorable mentions :
    Modern Metal
    Made of Metal
    Death Metal

With those 4, you are served.

PS : even Metalheads was too caricatural for me.
Too bad they "over mixed" AND "scooped" it. It lacks "meat" in the mid freqs.
It is in the samples themselves, without any possibility to "relax" this over processing.
