I was not rederring to sampled phrases exclusively. In fact I make pattern / loop based music and still write each and every note myself, except for drum breaks that I like to use for their particular vibe. Only that I start from a loop paradigm, which I develop further into full instrumentals / songs.

 

Yes, it's true that there are much easier DAWs than reaper for loop compistion. For this I like FL Studio.
On the other hand, in this new version, there is new way to work with loop and comp the result.

Be aware that by trying this Reaper theme, be very careful if you import the config file that comes with it.
It completely fucked up my config, and even re-importing my config backup, I cant get my tool bar as normal.

Hmm, I imported the configs for both 3.9 and 2.65 and everything went fine on my end. I also reverted back to my own config without problems.

I'm not sure what might have gone wrong... Sucks because Reaper is so 'configurable', you do not want to do it all over manually again :O

EDIT: could it be the iLogic configs are for Reaper v6 and not v7 yet?

I found using 7 a real pita so far, it kept giving that spinning eggtimer thing (almost) every time I clicked on a (usually transport) button! I'm prolly doing sth wrong, but it has nth to do w/ latency or cpu usage! Reinstall 6.x and wait for 7.1 I guess?

 

I'm using it on 2 verry different computers, my desktop is too powerful to speak about, but my laptop is basic, and I don't see this behavior...

 

Yeah, it's most likely user error, as per, @Olymoon. I've tried doing a bit of troubleshooting, fresh install etcs; but zero luck so far. Pressing play (transport) means a 16s wait! Whereas if I do the same in a vsti, it starts instantly. I figured that I had count-in enabled but nothing like that. Feels like it's buffering? Guess I'm giving up!

Do you have MTC or MMC enabled for any reason? Are you using any Digital connections like SPDIF? Clock set to Internal, and any other sync settings enabled, smpte, etc? I have seen this before in a different DAW. You have checked with a brand new empty project, right and left locator values set correctly? iirc I ran into it in Cubase 10; and like your comment, it was not the machine resources. It was some unexpected setting. Quite awhile ago, but maybe I will remember. It is a "format and reinstall Windows" level of annoying sort of behavior that makes it nearly unbearable to work with it happening.

Most of us choose or switch to Reaper because of freedom to work how you want to work.

I luv Reaper, but i have enough courage to speak about his flaws with criticism
that aimed to improve it.

And it's sad that most forum users of Reaper are act like a primitive trolls.

 

New user here. Just wanted to say that I am blown away by Reaper - the speed, functionality and flexibility is amazing. Spent the last couple of days with setting it up to my needs and I can't believe that there is always an option or action somewhere that does what I want it to do. Totally slept on this DAW.

 

to be honest his stuff looks good but some times it does be kind of a little to bulky looking for me so i stick the logic theme or the cakewalk looking theme that one is clean and elegant as well

I use Reaper as my "backup" DAW. Short - when my main DAW lacks a feature it is probably covered in Reaper. It takes time to find it though.. My question atm. Installed 7.01 and out of the box the mixer tracks (meters) have no numbers



I made a quick search and as I understand, there will be a (the) 7.x Theme Adjuster thing, which should fix this. I know you can switch to 6.x theme and the numbers are there.. but, isn't this a bit rushed?

 

Can someone pls list stuff that is not available in let’s say S1? Stuff of practical daily use, not “possibilities”, only fully integrated at the fingertip features.

Would be really interesting to hear

- offline LUFS/RMS/peak measuring
- almost every parameter of any plugin can be modulated/automated/sidechained by various sources and in various ways (audio, MIDI note, positive, negative, limited, ...)
