Sonic Charge is probably the king of making uncrackable software.

 

Nothing is uncrackable but some Developers made it harder to bypass all the checks, timebombs and so on, but with people like @r4e and @fari adams working that hard on it its just an question of time until everything will be bypassed.

 

at any rate, it wouldn't be hard for Sonic Charge to read the thread and get inspiration on how to circumvent the circumvention.

 

Maybe they do for the next Update , but they can't change this Version, because people already have the installer It's like Tom trying to get Jerry with new Traps, but Jerry is escaping every Time.

 

How about Avid (or whoever writes the actual Protools software now)? UAD, or even Steinberg. Keep in mind, it seems like SB have just nearly given up on keeping you guys out.

I said the same thing back on page two. The developer or someone seemingly associated with them made a pre-release thread on here to announce the new version/stuff they would be releasing soon, and there were people talking about it hopefully getting cracked in the thread almost immediately. That's almost like inviting them back to check on your progress.

. But they can very quickly release a BS update that does almost nothing different. Waves does this with almost every major version #. Not like it helps anyway....

 

I exited the non stop update train some time ago if something works flawless i stay with the Version until any major updates come out that im intrested in.

These Companies should learn that if something is cracked that it is good Marketing for them, because they get more popular and used by more people which some will end up buying which they wouldn't otherwise. I Think Steinberg realized that. When Cubase 5 was cracked they where at their peak but it went down until the newer Version was cracked. Avid with Pro Tools is special, because many Pro Studio got Hardware which is made for it.

Waves is a good example why im exited the update train. Some companies should focus more on creating new innovative Stuff than put their ressources in changing their protection non stop.

U-he, Xfer Serum, & Goodhertz all are very good at making protection without the "iLok crutch" or online-only activation.

Both R2R & xAIR failed to catch timebombs in their last Goodhertz releases, which should tell you something!

I have major respect for devs who can make competent anti-piracy without resorting to methods that harm the consumer ;)

 

It tells me they are probably just making it harder to find them, and by having certain important behaviors of the plugin go berserk; rather than completely de-authorizing the plugin, so that the purpose of that section of coding looks more innocuous and unrelated. They are probably making them dormant longer, knowing that reversers are not wanting to wait as long as needed, before someone else makes a release before they do. It's no skin off their backs to make a Fix version, and get credit for new downloads from everyone who already downloaded the first version. Like double-dipping. As long as the bomb doesn't hit your monitors with a 0dB test tone, does anyone even mind?

 

The Problem is that some of this time bombs and so on will only trigger if you use it intense or on some Hardware. There are so many different Sytem configurations that it is impossible for an Team to test everything. When FluidPitch and FluidChords were released and cracked it worked for most of the people but some got Problems and R2R found out after testing it on 10 or more PC's that this was happening, because of the Hardware ID containing or starting with some number so they fixed it and everything worked. Also Reversing is one of the hardest Tasks to do in the world of Programming, because you won't get to the original Source Code which would make it very easy to bypass everything if you know the language it was originally programmed in.

Any more info on the goodhertz bundle timebombs? I dont use them often at all

 

After a good amount of use (week or two) Goodhertz plugs will unregister or will after a certain amount of actions (changing values on knobs, changing presets, ect.) based on the release.

Iirc, 3.7.2 was the last working release which was a modification of R2R's 3.5.x release, but don't quote me on this. It's hard to find details on every release because
1. Goodhertz DMCA's like crazy
2. Independent crackers have released their own cracks based on the works of other people (so theres a lot of releases sometimes with little credit)

 

other site shows over 400 downloads of R2R's Mac release of "all bundle" 3.8, and the last comment left about it was in January. There would be many more, if it continued to phone home/bomb. Block them in your hosts and do all the other usual firewall actions you normally would. The install looks like it could trip you up, maybe; just some extra steps. Is there any specific plugins to check out? It's a lot of plugins in the bundle; and I have never used them much either. Expatriate, lol more like Exfiltrate. They are only on v3.8.1 now.

Ok good to know, i havent seen any bombs yet with approx 20mins use per 7 days so far on an offline machine

 

the only thing in r2r's instructions that are a little "different" seems to be that it's one of few installers which detect internet connectivity before giving you the option of an Offline Authorization method. That usually a very good tip-off that it is going to phone home at some point. With this one it looks closer to immediate.

 

What happened to the "working on the fix already" poster?

 

A Quick Workaround for the legit Trial until the fixed Version gets released. Block your DAW via Firewall. Download RunAsDate https://www.nirsoft.net/utils/run_as_date.html and run it, Set the .exe of your DAW as Application to run, set the time to when you installed Synplant, uncheck Move the time forward and create an Desktop Shortcut. Run your DAW from this Shortcut and you will have 3 weeks left forever.

PS: if you already installed the Trial just look up the date when you installed it, no need for a fresh install.

I create two new rules for ableton IN and OUT in my firewall for block the connexion but always after a certain time , the autoupdate check are ON ... im gonna buy it

 

Edit your hosts file. But you really should pay for your DAW if you can afford to; that way you won't need to learn a new one. You may need to block both the plugin and your DAW. People often say to just block your DAW application; I always try to do both; and the hosts file if people are already mentioning phone home and "update" attempts. Maybe someone who knows Windows well can explain dll injection or other concerns; and if blocking DAW is always sufficient. I'd rather just assume the worst and find out it is an unwarranted concern. I have seen many people find out not to 100% trust software firewalls the hard way.

 

Maybe the "fix" after some tests didn't work anymore, no?
