I live from music. I`m a producer, I use internet on my main producing PC. Ik theres people who have that "no internet on production pc" but thats too outdated, don't you know how to keep telemetry from happening? You can do that, just edit some regedit configs and boom you got it, no need for that. Everyone should have easy acess to internet from their pc if they want that

Having your internet off on your production computer while making music is all about concentrating on your work and avoiding distractions, its simple really, just try it. I even switch my mobile off when in the studio.

I just wrote a lot, knowing some was off-topic and putting it in a spoiler.
Then I realized it is ALL actually off topic (about offline-vs online and other stuff).
    So,
If I was running a proper old-school studio, I would keep those "production computers" offline.
I'm just a hobbyist and my older machines (Win XP & Win7) were never offline, but what a complicated setup, with my program/DAW archives all labeled as [XP+] or [w7+].

I then got 2 nearly identical Win10 (i7-7700) machines (except for an extra 16 Gig memory for the daw).
I set up my downloading and processing of "software" on my "gaming" machine, and as I set up my DAW machine, I kept it offline, only updating once i had most of the setup complete (and reauthorizing what needed it after the major update). Then I kept it offline for a while, as my mouse and keyboard were KVM, and no bother to switch.

But after a while I reorganized some and shifted my downloading and processing of software to the DAW machine, in particular due to downloading massive amounts of libraries for Kontrakt, IKM, UVI, and the rest.
That's when i'd gotten a large HD for "processing" files and began both downloading and then archiving on the same drive to reduce time and wear of transfers.
I'd learned how to keep firewalled on XP & Win7 and it became even easier once I stopped manually editing the Windows firewall and found Windows Firewall Control (in my signature) and Blue Life Hosts editor (among others) for enabling/disabling internet access for developer sites easily.
Easy Context Menu makes accessing programs great, even though I do have a nice start menu (Open Shell Menu).

While Kontakt was batch resaving I was playing games...
...and while I was waiting in a game cue, I was fooling with Diva.
It's a great setup for ADHD.
I don't actually have ADHD, but once I have a proper desk setup again I will do the same with 2 machines.
Well ... maybe I DO have a bit of ADHD if I like that so much...(?)
But I won't bother keeping the DAW comp offline.

    The pron, bro...

removing the dpc latency from your network card is a good way to get a couple more tracks out of your system

well, it's about the plugin in question. I'm not sure of the wisdom posting about what they are modifying in detail, but only for simple reason it might make it easier for someone to change again on them.

If you want to get musically off-topic, this plugin is the one for you. Even using the "Genotype" feature on a simple bass patch, moving the orb on the branches it's like the touch controller on the Z1. It would be nice if it can be midi-learned or if it could smoothly move from one pitch "slice" to the next. A longer demo period might fit this one, because you go to make something simple and an hour later you realize how much a possible time drain it is. i'm on the fence about buying it, but that will be my on-topic contribution for the weekend about the plugin.

    This kind of thing? https://davescomputertips.com/fix-dpc-latency-network-adapters/

Is this more important when you are recording real-time external sources? When you are mixing, how many additional channels might you get playing with network adapter/ethernet card compared with using the network card to connect another CPU via Audiogridder or VEP and distribute the resources hit of cpu hungry plugins like virtual synths?

I mean, I truly trust R2R and VR, even AiR. If you know where you're downloading your files, where you're connecting your PC, and how to properly manage the system in order to keep yourself from leaking data that you may find sensitive, you don't need to have an offline computer. its all about knowing what youre doing

This is a fair enough sentiment, but in a game of Cat and Mouse; the Cat does not always win. In this case, the mouse is just waiting a little longer and trying some different ways to sneak past the Cat. There is a Windows firewall metaphor in there somewhere. This dev is probably not the most resourced to be seeing this from; something like Serum2 might cause me to check out a little refresher tutorial on Wireshark. or something.

lol...dont listen to whoever that was, theyre messing with you.

yes its totally normal...thats how it works. if you extend the branches it morphs the sound. the further from the center the more different each key will sound. if you find a sound you like...you select "clone seed" and then THAT sound is put on all keys (in scale, so you can play it) and the roots go short again to start the process over.

just remember....changing the length of the branches is for sound manipulation...if you want to play the sound like a normal sound on every key...it needs to not really have any branches.

that's a legitimate point. I'm certainly not arguing that no one should have network enabled on a studio PC, my comment was mainly because many were talking as if there were no scenarios in which it makes sense

If one knows how to use a the Windows Firewall properly, blocking ALL outgoing connections is the easy, and then for those that use "Arcade" or whatever else, you make an exception for that.
Till now I always see people using the firewall to block specific 'Outgoing' connections, rather than blocking everything, and only allowing specific "Outgoing" connections.

Thats the way it is in company environments which have an good Administrator every thing is denied, only connections needed are allowed of course they handle this via GPO's which can be different for each user or group.

Sent my findings to fari adams. Hope it can help.

But there is still a fix required for an issue that just appeared while intense testing for like 30mins.
Hope together we can get it working soon.
