well i gave you the modern examples where dissonance is used competently and you insisted it cant be metal. other than that, youre asking me to create a new genre for you with words. not to seem standoffish. i dont mind the intellectual discourse we're having, but that is what youre asking for

Parallel harmony is a personal favourite ever since i got into open guitar tunings. Haven't heard that much in mainstream music though, at least not used in a way that would "alter the scale". Maybe you can get away with heavy handed parallel harmony on D&B, enough to use all 12 notes "continuously" without it sounding too out of place, maybe, idk.

Use of all chromatic notes within western tonal music is mainly found within progressive jazz-rock types of music. You won't find it with the mainstream pop/rock genres. Take a listen to for instance Herbie Hancock's 4 A.M.:

Sorry to say this but your question is extremely poor (I mean that with all the respect), hence all the diversity of opinions here and the confusion. It's like asking "how does a producer uses their voice today?", the chromatic scale and the equal temperament are the foundation of the current western music so... you gotta be more specific. Did you mean something like dodecaphony (which was already mentioned)?

The option of bringing you up to speed about something humans have understood since at least 2400 years ago might have come across as pedantic, too. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parthenon

Maybe you can get away with the core of what you want just shunning the term "tone" and embracing an atonal way of musical expression, focusing in timbric variations to create soundpaintings, sonic scultures, etc. That surely have make it way in genres like punk, industrial, some rock. For what I read, I see that the idea of 12 tones makes you struggle more than open new possibilities, maybe you want to have total control over what you're making but the same desire could be a wall for your creativity.

Isn't a very large percentage of it for his DJ performances? Enough where he doesn't need the other 7 notes...

Nice track! But it has absolutely nothing to do with the 12 tone music that Schoenberg and Webern wrote!

The assignment was to pick a 12 tone serial and follow the strict ruleset to stay within the order of your serial. The track slowly zooms in on one motive within that serial following the given ruleset. It was a play between Schoenberg's ruleset and doing your own creative piece with it. It's been 10 years ago, unsure how Schoenberg-esque the assignment was but I remember it being within the spirit of his 12-tone ruleset.

The best start point is: play the chords with chromatic scale, for example:
    C, C+, C6, C7 (for verse)
    F, D, G (for chorus)

all 12 notes are used in the rising scale!
or Hotel California: Am, E, G, D, F (falling scale)
In both examples the notes of used chords could be ordered in a chromatic scale

If I absolutely had to use all 12 notes at the same time I would approach it by using the main elements of a track available to me, I would have six notes in the left ear, the other six in the right and I would use a combination of splitting the high and low pitches with the largest margin I could musically use and lowering the volumes of the most dissonant notes. The challenge would be to make it actually sound good.

Maybe this could be the next AS challenge.

That's easy, just keep transposing until you've covered all the notes.

Probably. If it were just a matter of covering as many keys as possible on the keyboard, he could start with something as simple and boring as, I don't know, Cm7 Csus2 Db6 Cm9/6, maybe (?) and build on that. Playing a little with chord tonalities.12 keys are quickly covered. Lol

I suggest chord progressions can use all 12 (or more, if you are microtonalist) notes and melodies up to 8-9 notes (even 10 can work, but then it is stretching memory capabilities of people). Throw some modulations in, you are good to go.
Octatonic scale is a good starting point (it is most often used in film music, but it can work in pop or EDM, if you want sad or sinister mood.) If you want happier scale, 9-notes augmented is decent.

Let me briefly explain what I mean. Imagine putting these keys in front of you and telling you to make a song and use all the notes. My question was how do you use these keys?
