Hi,i have the u-he everything bundle r2r 2022
when i install hive 2 it installs ok (i only install vst 2 version) registers ok,but there is no output from the synth.
all presets are there,just no output when i press key on midi keyboard.
anyone have this prob?

 

Check to make sure your midi keyboard is sending on the right channel (you want Ch 1 most likely).

 

it outputs fine any other vst i add,so must be on correct channel no?
i have switched it off there before i seen your reply.
but fact it plays other vsts then shouldnt be that,or should i check?

 

you should remember that this developer loves to put these kinds of time bombs into his plugins. You should include if you are on PC or Mac, what OS version, and the DAW/version also so that someone can help you out better.

 

im on pc windows 10 cubase 11 pro.
just curious if anyone has gotten it to work ok
not like a timebomb,as they work ok to start dont they?

thought I would install hive 2.1.1 and test it out for myself.
I get no sound at all from hive vst2 unless I click the GUI keyboard with my mouse.
regged with no problems, no internet connection, no crashes, no other glitches

 

You are partially correct. But these kinds of annoying ones can be based on usage time, certain user actions, number of saves, or even calendar dates. They may de-authorize the plugin or cause unexpected behavior. If whatever condition = true, then do x. That can be pretty much anything the programmer thinks up to add; something like any hidden "easter egg". People have posted quotes from comments he has made about them. It's why people sometimes joke about helping him out with his bitcoin mining operation. Maybe that was Sylenth1 actually, but you get the idea.

There was also a Mac bundle of these posted in 2022, but they were all beta versions. A number of them reverted to expired demo too. There was another release for Windows from January of this year and it is titled as REGGED with no complaints about this yet. It is revision 12092.

Try that one. You should probably remove the currently installed one with Revo just in case. You might want to bounce anything good you do with it to stems.

hi @clone, can't seem to find the version you recommend...
the only full title with REGGED is "u-he Hive 2 v2.1.1 MAC/LiNUX REGGED-(R2R-Based)" from Jan 2023 but it's not for PC - there doesn't seem to be a u-he BUNDLE with REGGED available.
please forgive me if I've screwed up the searches; maybe you can help me out?

 

There is only one R2R release of Hive 2.1.1 for win afaik, and the midi works fine here in ableton

 

ok, thanks for that, if it's not too much trouble, can you let me know if there is a way in the GUI to change midi input? I can't seem to find anything myself...
(I'm trying to solve OPs problem but not that knowledgable myself)

 

This is not from R2R. No keygen, no .nfo file, no release number, nothing. Hive_211_12092_Win. Sometimes they do regged only releases instead of keygen, but never do they forget other details like this. Release date 1-11-23, along with Mac and Linux versions separately. It is absolutely not from the witches, it's not from a scene group apparently. He mentioned his version is from a bundle, like the betas were for mac from trazor. If we had the r2r release # you could compare them.

I think posted plugins from the developer often disappear quickly.

the Mac/Linux versions are still on sister site. They show from P2P and are "r2r based", which means they were some kind of repack.

Funkman & Dave - have you tried "Uhe Hive v2.1.1.12092-R2R" on PC yet? read all the info R2R included?..

I'm not sure why that version wouild be re-uploaded as an "r2r-based" p2p release with no r2r documents in it, by a well-known releaser on sister site in January of this year. The Mac/Linux one had almost all it's comments cleared by a moderator because they were apparently off-topic requests. Typical of a repacked posting, I wonder why that would be uploaded. Maybe for fun?

You have it already installed on your system and have provided no solution yet. You use Ableton and have not even checked to see why he is installing a VST2 format plugin when Ableton dropped support for that format or why he is using VST2 with Cubase.

Absolutely correct. Urs Hecman wrote many times about his strategy in copy protection. Yes, he loves significantly delayed time bombs (by weeks, month, and even years are possible). But such protection can snap into action immediately. Just chance. It's a strong side of his approach.

But no-MIDI-in-problem may be a bug...

 

It could be, or it could be a basic configuration problem in the DAW, or even a keyboard controller not set to Omni or even it set to Local Off...
Usually good programmers have way more obscure problems that are not encountered by new users. I have used the remark quite a few times, "it's amazing how many bugs first-time users are able to find in all these plugins", when really the only problem is just in the chair.
