Yep I love my iLok, dongle works great and doesn't make you phone in to UA every time you use a plugin.

Rad thanks for posting.. That's the one bundle I was hoping would go on sale the last couple weeks but it never did.. At least now I got one to tide me over until the collection gets a little cheaper.. Didn't even have to fill out a form, it just dumped it right in my account the minute I hit the button.

 

Anyone here having this issue when installing the plugin?



Edit: no matter what, I can't get it to work. Searched all seven seas for a solution, nothing works. UAD when prompted in all public places instead of giving a proper answer they just tell you to ask their support for help. Glad it was free, but I see no reason to replace the NEOLD U2A with something that is a headache to get working. I have a good feeling that we'll receive usable versions of their plugins by the witches when Santa makes its rounds around the globe...

So this does not need UA Connect running at all, after you install it? Can it be deleted after installing the plugin? Their current version of UA Connect for Mac is min req. 10.15. but I think it may be possible to get around that with a legacy version. If I have to keep their software installed for any reason, it won't be worth the time.

 

Yup, though it's basically a stripped down version of the "silver" La2a on the collection (no mixknob, no sidechain control). It also sounds a little cleaner to me but that could be just my monkey brain favouring the new plugin. If you put it in PD other than some slight differences in harmonics it's pretty much the same.

Plugin is still working perfectly without the bloat.

Removing sidechain and mix controls is so petty when you can still easily do it in any daw with a few extra steps. Thankfully, very fast to work around if your daw supports track presets.

The actual "price" you pay for getting this (probably legacy UA1 plugin) for "free":

1. Register UA Account
2. Register iLok Account
3. Link UA Account to iLok Account
4. Install 500+ MB UA Connect Plugin Manager which adds additional daemons that run on startup on your system.
   
5. Install iLok Licence Manager

However, it is incredible how UAD has completely taken the path of Plugin Alliance and Waves, with price reductions that were unthinkable until a few months ago, between 29 and 39 dollars. Personally I think this is a very positive thing, although I imagine the shock of those who have spent thousands, and often tens of thousands bucks on UA for their sound cards and plugins. Just read the UA forums about how literally angry UAD-2 users are.

 

anyone who bought uad plugins in the past got a free copy for ilok that can run natively so it's not that bad for them especially when they can use their cpu horsepower and run as much as they can and not be limited by the uad hardware.

The installation process would indeed be excessive for only 1 plugin, but it's a nice surprise for those who already have iLok installed.
