i don't think I have heard anything like it before. very nice work. It definitely does get a little crazy towards the middle. I like the more accessible music parts. Particularly the bass parts and the filtered disco sounds; some turntablism motor stop sounds in there. this is really good. it is pretty bizarre.

I'd love to discuss the mix since it's been such a journey to get it right. I think I worked a total of 5 months on and off it since I started writing and recording. I've always been interested in combining different genres, musical parts with crazy parts, and was hoping to let it all come together.

I hope you enjoy it, and please let me know what you think of the mix. I'd love the feedback. Here are some notes describing some of the process.

Bass guitar
One of the hardest parts for me was to get the bass guitar just right. I needed it to be upfront and angry. Louder than what you're normally expecting from the bass. For me the challenge was that it covered a big part of the frequency spectrum, and still needs to leave room for everything else without causing mud or distorted speakers in the car lol.

I recorded it on a Fender Original 50's Precision bass through an MXR Bass Octave Deluxe, and distorted the hell out of it using the Hairball Rev F 1776 compressor. Just full on slam. Second more synthy part @ 01:05 is just playing through a Zvex Mastotron and then the MXR BOD octaver again.

Vocals
The vocals I recorded with a TLM 102 and Focusrite ISA One. I used a lot of FabFilter eq, fircomp and Decapitator. The choir is me and my girlfriend singing about 16 parts from different angles to the mic and distances in the room. Then positioning each take on stage using Valhalla Room, finishing the overal vibe with TimP's EMT 140.

Drums are Superior Drummer - Legacy Of Rock Oyster kit layered with a 808 kick and saturating with Kush Omega 458a.

Overall there's a lot of Nebula console emulation going on, mostly SSL 4000 E, API 1608 and Neve 88RS.
