You know how this year is the 50th anniversary of hip-hop? there will always be "love for the oldschool" in hiphop. always.
If you don't want to have that flavor in your music; you don't spend $5K+ or whatever on that SP-1200 below the chandelier in the picture. Maybe you can think of a better use for it than sampling old funk, jazz, soul, or rare groove vinyl records ; but I cannot. You do not end up with a track like this on accident or by mistake. It's exactly how it is supposed to be.

Very cool! great sound.

 

Better than most hiphop coming out today, vocals sound great, very old skool Grand Puba era. A few timing issues on the scratch, would vary it a bit and have a better scratch hook, better snare with some more swagger and swing but sounds good.

very cool! love the old skool vibes, refreshing to hear someone creating in this sound, and executing it properly. The rapping is great, the instrumental is great. I would love to hear the master a tiny bit more "crunchy", some tape emulation / mild saturation. Like 10 percent extra spice. but thats just me. Overall great track!

 

well I just finished this movie cue…. I used the studer a820. You’ll most DEFINITELY love what that tape did. Once all is signed off….. I’ll post the video.
