I’d like to know about personal AMD user experiences using older uad2 pcie cards. Got a solo pcie card and afraid it won’t work in my asrock x670e steel legend/ ryzen 7950x combo. I’ve ordered my new setup earlier this week and it’s due to arrive next week. I have accidentally stumbled upon possible AMD , UAD2 pcie compatibility issues on forums while doing some googling out of boredom as I’m currently without PC. If anyone has good/bad experience with AMD and UAD2 pcie cards please share below especially if you are using the same build I’ve mentioned above. Please let me know asap I might change the order to intel if there’s still time… uad ecosystem is vital for my workflow.

@Daskeladden provided the link to the possible issues you should be aware of. I'd go wth Intel build if UAD is essential for your workflow.

AMD recently released a new line of CPUs called Ryzen."

really... Recently like in 2017, recently?

It is for this exact reason I won't buy into the newer UAD hardware. Especially since when I bought into the UAD1 it was a complete flop. With the UAD1 they ADVERTISED you were supposed to be able to offload all sorts of high quality plugins to this "new audio co-processor" and free up all sorts of host processor time for doing other things. WRONG! The plugins were the ONLY thing not false advertised by UA - the plugins were actually top notch... However. One could ever only get 2, maybe 3, of them loaded and running at once side by side without that UAD1 piece of shit along with the host processor getting completely pegged out at 100% utilization. Funny though, the very same system getting bombed by the UAD1 could run 30+ assorted non-UA vst's of all types without so much as a hiccup... UA tech support could never explain that away logically. And then, the real kick in the user's ass by UA...

Apparently, those with the UAD1 compatible plugins CANNOT cross-grade to the newer NATIVE plugins of the same type. They structured it perfectly. FUCK YOU, UA!!
