for me currently it's gotta be osiris/Vavra the dsp53600 emulators. virus and Waldorf. lots of presets but yeah they cut through.

trillian/renegade bass from teletone for non electronic music bass as my bonus recommendation.

    +1 for Osirus.

Good ole Serum is still a nice option with lots of possibilities.

A third favorite of mine is any vst sampler loaded with bass samples or other deep sounds like percussions (for example one shots). In depends on what you are aiming for, but sometimes (or often) less is more in electronic music. At times a single one shot with the right sound and placement is enough to create your main deep groove in connection with the kick.

Diva/Legend if I need something analog

Serum/Pigments for all the fancy sound design (Serum was my first synth, and always used it, but I'm starting to like pigments a lot for its flexibility)

Modo/Ample for Layering (If I need it)

    And my secret weapon... :excl:

Hive for plucky plastic ones, Diva for deeper ones and low layers, Polysix (famous Fat Line Bass preset) for top layers, Nexus for mid layers sometimes.

I don't have a "Favorite one". It depends on the sound you want to make. Here are some you can easily find :)

Phaseplant, Serum, Falcon, Sublab/Sublab XL, Initial Audio 808 Studio, Bass Master, Massive, Korg M1, Omnisphere, Ana 2, And now Arturia Acid for 303. Modo Bass 2, maybe soon; the demo is very nice.

Trilian at 33gb of space, is overrated. Better sounds from DIVA, Legend, etc. And more parameters to work with.....

Serum really, sounds huge with minimum effort.

Probably delve into Kontakt banks for samply synthy stuff if I'm doing anything other than drum & bass electronic wise.

    All styles ?
    Serum
it can even do convincing analog like sounds.

For anything specific ... there are too many synths to make a clear choice.

    Free ?
    "Osirus DSP" for sure
    Classic sounds by tons
