    I have tried Kick 2 and Spire I cannot get even close, I cannot replicate the initial transient punch that's on the sampled kick. Does anyone know where it came from?

    Why don't you just use the sampled kick in the click section of Kick 2? :dunno:
    You can highpass it, and then play around until you get the desired kickdrum.

    1) Layer a click transient (any high-end noise) with
    2) a sine (adjust attack [to make room for the quick transient], sustain and release time to taste).
    Add some pitch envelope to the sine (going from higher frequency and landing on a lower resting frequency, which in this case is around 43Hz).

    Nice kick, I like it, so I copied it :)

    In these cases, the easiest is to load the kick into Kick2, then replicate the tail. Then add the top of the "inspiration" kick as a layer, highpass it a bit, set the start point, and set the maximum length you can use (in this case, around half of the source kick).

    You can use the code below, create a new file called "whatever.curve" and paste this text inside - it will generate the curve from the attached pic (put it at the proper location and will be accessible in the curves menu):

    Code:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

    <env>
      <point x="0.0" y="0.6225024461746216" c="0.0"/>
      <point x="0.41073077917099" y="0.3045995533466339" c="-0.0525762066245079"/>
      <point x="0.7499265074729919" y="0.119500994682312" c="-0.1388016045093536"/>
      <point x="1.0" y="0.1087613999843597" c="-0.0609881617128849"/>
    </env>
    Also the amp envelope and the distortion - adjust to taste

    And your source kick layer (dont forget to hipass)

    You can add an extra percussion (maybe a longer hat, or reverbed hat or something, to cover with high frequencies the entire length of the kick. No kick works in different mixes without changes (especially in the mid and top) so I think this is a good start
