Where did you got this screenshot.... And about free version, well that could be like with Dorico SE free version. Which will be okay from them to give Cubase for free. They are looking after market to take over again and to be #1.

Next thing you know, Apple is officially announcing Logic Pro is one time purchase and free updates for life, that would seriously shake the market quite a bit, would force others to start competing for slice of that cake lol

Yeah , you got the point but unless Logic is not intending to be released for Windows also, that info is not relevant whatsoever, because after all Windows in used widely in many music production world than the OSX therefore that will not have any impact over Cubase which is for both platforms.
Who with sane mind would pay for mac over 2000 bucks or so just to run Logic, makes no sense at all and especially users that using k'ed programs.
My opinion is that Windows is still more user friendly.
Steinberg and Yamaha know the business.
It will come that that it will be dirty cheap like Reaper is now, or they will eventually follow Apple steps.
Pro Tools is almost out of game, StudioOne is fading out, Sonar is getting back, but still no good workspace, FL Studio is top notch but just for beat making, Reaper is excellent but GUI and tools are not my preference, therefore as many music production studios I have been they either use Cubase or Nuendo.

Still I am happy for Logic users, it is a good DAW, shame it is exclusively just for macOS...

Still I got no answer where the heck people get this screenshots, since this announcement can be made only with official Steinberg page, but yet i see no nothing?

They're doing what politicians do to determine how badly something will go down with the public - leak it to the press first and wait for the reaction.

I was half joking, but it would be interesting if market get more shaken up by that decision, but doubt Apple will do anything, they already got their free DAW and all that.

Entry level Mac is 600 bucks these days and plenty people (including myself) actually got into them again, if you take into consideration that last 10 years updates for Logic were free of charge and quite a substantial ones, everything looks more enticing, some folks are even calculating whole electricity usage and all that now, all adds up to equation that maybe getting a Mac isn't that crazy stupid idea as it was before.

But let's not go into whole that thing, it's Cubase thread after all.

I can't agree more. Logic is one of the most comprehensive and value for money DAW around.
I am actually quite jealous of MAC users.

Cubase is the only DAW which comes close to logic and for us Windows users still the best alternative

Motu DP has improved and is more suited to media whereas FL and Reaper are altogether different beast in their own fields. I am gonna try a combination of them..[FL (is my main DAW) + Reaper]

Very thoughtful and absolutely true. :goodpost:

There is no denying the fact that legendary blockbusters of digital music came from those older versions of the DAWs.

Hans Zimmer using Cubase since early days as is,
    Danny Elfman on Motu DP

Avicii's pioneering EDM blockbusters from FL 12
    And the list goes on...

    So true so true.....:guru::dj:

I bought Cubase until it reached v11. That was the last time they saw my money... Why? Because v12 from R2R got several songs of mine to reach the dreadful 100% CPU usage for no reason at all. So i decided to stick to v11.

You tried the crack once and blamed Steinberg? Funny, there's tons of users getting on just fine with C12. They have this neat thing called a support team that's there to find out what's causing the issues on YOUR system and not everyone else's.

True enough, but there are also many users getting along just fine with V12 from both r2r and VR. If he had a problem with either of those, he should have asked within those posts on other site. V12 should be reverse compatible with projects from V11; unless they added so much bloat to it, that it is now exposing the shortcomings of his system.

SB Support team will often do exactly what your comment does. It blames the user, or some other developers software. The odds are definitely in favor of it, but it's not the only possible answer. My guess? What really happened was it ran just fine from r2r, and "100% CPU usage" is a justification to stop paying for Cubase.

Sophistic answer. First you can only speak for yourself and not for "tons uf users" Second, I'm concerned with MY system and in MY system only as it's the only one i have access to.
At the end of the day, there are unexplained overloads and peaks while the same tracks built in Reaper only reach 30% of CPU usage.
This does not occur in the R2R version 11 as well as my official version. So i stick with it.
PS : You probably do not own any Steinberg product or at least did not have any issue because this NEAT support team you mentioned is probably not the steinberg one. Or maybe you got lucky. I did not.
