There is a difference between a collector and a user. Guitar pedal addiction, for instance. Rack gear, for that matter. Guitar hoarding, to note. Small midi controllers that I have 0 need for, to be honest. Random kitchen utensils on the Walmart aisle, that could be used to sample. Random fabrics, to put under my monitors or cover my gear (jeezus). ....anyway, just use what you have and become good at engineering. :)

Did you start drinking early today or something? All of that stuff came from one Efnet channel and went up on alt.binaries.sounds. There was far less Mac warez. Wasn't even close.

Macromedia Dreamweaver 3? we had Flash 4 then, too. Now there is something truly obsolete. So old their training book for that version had Kimble website in it, as a movie example.

Next time u’re disappointed because they’ve released stuff that you bought with your hard earned money while everyone else is using it for free?

I’m glad you’re buying stuff. It keeps the industry healthy.
Try to master the synths you already got. It will keep you busy until they release the stuff you have been waiting for ☺️

I'd been a life long Mac user up until about 2000 or so. I couldn't believe the abundance of audio warez available when I bought my first PC. I was like a pig in shit.

I'm sometimes tempted to go back because I like the OS, but then I look at the hardware and rapidly dismiss the idea.I want a machine I can upgrade myself. Macs aren't made for people like me.

But my first steps in audio were on warez copies of Rebirth and Reason back on the Mac.

Wowzers Teams don't have to do jack shit, your comment sounds like 'pure privilege'. Might be time to invest in a mirror and take a good hard look at yourself. Might learn to be grateful for any and all releases released on the sister site.

I have always used both macs and pcs, but for different purposes really. I like my music stuff to be on Mac, because it keeps me focused on music. But here's the thing, no matter what your reasons to be using any of them; there is always more PC hardware, software, and users. Apple has never had a 50% market share of anything but niche industries like commercial printing/graphic arts, pro audio, and maybe something I am unaware of. That is it. We did get a lot more Mac software; but when the most productive team decides to focus their resources on only Windows, that is just a case of some simple math. We had the Pace/Open SSH things and many 32bit plugins and applications. It was never even close to what there is on PC. For many years prior to developers being able to code cross-platform stuff more easily; there was so many more software titles for PC. Like a 5 to 1 ratio, or more. You could have every single Mac title and it would be like a nice glass of wine vs. PC; because that would be like drinking from a fire hose.

bottom line is this, I demo from the dev only if no strings attached and full (extremely rare), if not its always gonna be cracks first, then I buy what i can afford, the rest I dont. its simple, when musicians and politicians finally wake up and decide music has value enough to actually do something about it, and people are forced to start paying for music again (or everything else in life becomes free), then I can earn a fair living like everyone elkse in every other field of work in society and pay for the more expensive softwares and hardwares (and the same goes for everything else in everyday life). until then I am grateful for each and every release, even the shit ones. I think the teams and sister site are doing a great job. the end.

What's an example of a watermark in this context? I'm curious, i've heard of that before but i've never experienced it, or even understand it. What actually is it?

Its interesting that developers are clueless to marketing which requires the understanding of their target customers, only Plugin Alliance does seem to understand that once users of their plugins port the plugs into their DAW environment (project-song) they want it to remain there the next time they open that session to tweak something…

i own my fav plugs, the plugs that live on all my channel strips, buss-aux, master preset/templates, infact some users built templates with plugs that shape their brand-identity sound., maybe they replace a 1176 plug they used with a purple version or uad etc and they like a variety of 1176s but in general once you found what works its rare and you dont look further so you buy them., like many software developers, a random noise demo is all fair to me,but for example soundtoys, 30 day for all plugs is crazy, then when they released a verb my ilok refused a demo cause their 30 demo was done, years ago, you cant even try updates-upgrades of their products once you demo them.

i like the sister site, if fact i think its the best out there

Usually that is more of a request and just some wishful thinking. It's always better to get a file from it's original source, and anyone can download a demo version.

Anyone can download a demo version but demos are *generally* not complete installers and groups want the complete versions to release. Some groups won't even consider touching a demo because they wish to release a non patch crack for cleanest solution.

In my day, we had dedicated suppliers who were either connected or well-off and would gather the products to be cracked. This would include any needed licensing to be able to see the entire auth process to recreate it. These days there seems to be less groups who are skilled at reverse engineering, and more just haphazard patching, which can create it's own problems.

ah the good old dial up, dubstep before it was dubstep days. when selling stuff only on the interwebs and having no physical store was laughed at and those who claimed that that was gonna be the future were deemed insane and retarded.
