To be honest, as nice as it is to have shiny new toys. If you can't make amazing music / mixes with the tools already available on the sister site, then I don't know what to tell ya.

When I look at my DAW and see all the stuff I've got installed (too much!), I for one am grateful for the teams and their efforts. I see the OP has mentioned UVI so I imagine they are waiting for Synth Anthology 4 (as we all are). Remember how long it took the teams to crack Falcon and it's libraries?
If stuff I like becomes available, sure I'll download it. But I'm a patient pensioner who is prepared to wait it out.

My dream is a crack-free computer. Buying all the software to me means that:
    • the job is going strong and my bank account allows me to buy anything I need
    • I can have updates the same day they come out online
    • I can finally harass 24/7 devs in case of any malfunctions
    • I can write my real name in the registration code

There was a time when piracy made me feel like Robin Hood: now when using warez I feel like an illegal immigrant with no rights.
Of course, there are exceptions: I enjoy to download and install warez of some devs that I hate from the bottom of my heart, just for revenge (I don't even bother to use them)
My most hated is Steinberg Cubase, I hope they go bankrupt soon

There's a better reason for using Warez: performance. Especially when a software is well known to be a hog due to DRM methods.

Very seldom will you find a really new innovative or existing hardware product being developed as a plugin, the only Dev that I see trying to bring a few different FX plugins that aren't duplicated millions of times by every other Dev out is Kuassa, at least they are trying to provide something different, I occasionally try out new plugins and VSTi's solely as a passtime and not because I need or want to use them, it has become a hobby to stave off boredom. When I go to a jam, I now just bring a guitar the amps are always provided, I'm enjoying basics again.

For all we know, R2R could be hard at work trying to crack the new ilok protection. This would allow for releases like UAD, Gold Clip, McDSP, etc etc etc. And it would all come in one big wave like it did in early 2021 when they cracked the latest ilok protection at that time.
That's why threads like this piss me off - it's not only the sense of entitlement that teams owe you something, but it's also the assumption that teams are slacking, not doing enough. Cracking the latest protection takes time. If you're working hard on something behind the scenes, do you think threads like this would motivate you? No.
Don't ruin it for the rest of us. Be patient and grateful. It costs you nothing.

Wow, this hit a nerve. There is absolutely nothing in the OP's post to indicate that he or she is complaining. They're just asking, from those who may know more, what to expect, and if it's possible to predict. As a matter of fact, the OP specifically said they're buying more stuff, which is probably a lot better than many here. But they're probably not wealthy, and so want to save some money if possible. Seems pretty darn simple.

Very true. I've been a programmer in my 20ies and early 30ies (after that a dev is bunrt out anyway quite like in soccer ...). And what comes on the market today as an innovative product, I would be ashamed of!
Software without a wow factor is useless crap. People must LOVE to use it.
But beautiful and colorful UI is simply not enough.

People who program such sh*t do not deserve the honorary title of developer. That's why you had put it in inverted commas. Quite rightly.

The problem is that nowadays simply too many ready-made mediocre libraries are used.
Instead of using one's own head creatively, 'Devs' only put DLLs together, connect them with a pretty UI and TRARAAAAAAA, the product is ready for sales. Most money is put into advertizing.

However, as end users, we have ourselves to blame too: we expect new software to be launched every year. At least. But that's not the way it works in reality. The development cycles are 3 to 4 years if you develop sth. from the ground up with a small team.
If the devs were given that much time, they would probably come up with muuuuuch better products. Otherwise they can only put DLLs together.
And - that is the worst part - vendors don't have the financial power to program a really innovative piece of software in parallel. That would need additional devs not making money for 4 years.

But the good thing - for us - is that we can download from sister, find out that it is crap as expected and then delete this digital pollution from our computers.

And here - to come back to the OP - we even have to thank the teams for NOT flooding us with every piece of crap. You wouldn't even get to make music if you had to constantly test crappy software that isn't even worth cracking.

THANK YOU for not flooding sister with sh*t!

Question - Why is this thread so hostile to the OP, even though he just asked a question in a pretty "non rude" tone as well?
As a Mac user I've realised it as well, that we don't get warez like we used to an year back. Doesn't mean I'm not grateful for all that I have till now, and i constantly do post a thank you on most stuff. So what the OP asked kind of makes sense, but probably could have worded it a Lil better.

Interesting. Can you elaborate that? I'd like to know what warez are to be considered better than the legit version

plenty of protection that will drain your cpu due to constantly checking if the plugin is still legit

I would like to personally test what you say: could you name legit software known to be cpu hog as opposed to its warez vers?

    Hi @KUSHSMOKERLIT

I mostly see your thread as an expression of your dissatisfaction with the fact that you have started spending more money on buying more software - it is definitely a positive and natural development you are in, and I can only applaud that.

Most developers give you the opportunity to test their software for a period of time - often several weeks - this should give you a good feel for what a plug can do for you good/bad... or?!?

If your dissatisfaction is due to the fact that you don't really want to buy software at all but expect it all to be free, I actually think that there is something very fundamental that you have completely misunderstood.

    My 50 cents

For one - all iLok software, which requires extra time, CPU and memory to decrypt the payload when you load the plugin, along with extra checks while the plugin is running (which can be quite invasive, depending on the iLok protections used). Once all that stuff is removed, the plugin loads much faster, uses less memory, may loads presets faster, and may well be better performing.

There are others that use quite extensive protections that once removed, perform noticeably better. But I'd have to go refresh my memory and reading some nfos to tell you which - which seems like something you should do if you're interested, as the one asking... ;)

But it's definitely not a made up claim.

Well, this thing about the warez being better than the official ones seems like a rumor, I'd like to have confirmation, you read a lot of conflicting opinions on the forums...
A real world example: I'm a legit Ableton - Fabfilter - Serum user: in order to have more performance from the machine, should I convert my apps/plugins to their k'd vers?

SOME cracks work better. Some do become less stable. Overall though, I think most work at least as well as legit versions.
