Hi,
I use Ableton Live since 2005 so I know its limitations in regard to some aspects of its delay compensation but I found a new "bug" that I dind't know before.

Blank project:

-Set the project to 122 BPM and sample rate to 48000 (I'm sure it's not specific to this setting but let's use this settings)

-Insert a drum rack instance in a new track with only a single shot drum sample and draw a simple pattern in a clip in SESSION view.

-Duplicate track

-Freeze and flatten the duplicated track

-Insert a utility and invert phase on the flattened track

-Let the two tracks play from session view and observe that they don't always null (sometimes the hits null and sometimes not)

-Copy the two clips in arrangement view and let them play from arrangement view: they will null perfectly everytime.

Could someone explain to me why?

I attached a simple Ableton project for you to try out and report back if you like.

I noted this issue cause I was investigating why Beat Repeat in MIX mode (or vsts like Stutter Edit, Glitch etc...) creates phasey sound even if there are no latency inducing plugins in a project and from there I stumbled on this one.

Well good to know about that,,, now i will trusted my ear and heart coz i feel it too sometime,, but dont know how to prove it..

 

It's not a showstopper but can be messy in some circumstances if one doesn't pay attention to these things and just for the sake of curiosity I'd want to understand why it's this way and if there are workarounds. I searched in other forums but nothing came out for this problem

 

the mistake is using SESSION VIEW im presuming

 

yes, as I explained in the post, only in session view. Do you know why?
