I'm curious how you use reverb when mixing with EZdrummer (or Superior Drummer). There is a reverb track in EZdrummer, and it may sound different from the stock reverb you use in DAW.
There must be multiple scenarios, but let's narrow down to three.

    1) Just using the reverb in EZdrummer.
    2) Turn the reverb in EZdrummer off and add stock reverb in EZdrummer bus track.
    3) Turn the reverb in EZdrummer off and add stock reverb in snare, hi-hat, toms and overhead tracks.

    How do you do it?

I turn off the reverb because I like dry drums. If I feel it needs some reverb after that, I use the Lexicon room vst on the whole sound but just a small amount. I suppose it is mixing with the overhead mic reverb but it does not seem to matter.

The how and why will depend mainly on the genre. Example you don't put a hall reverb on the snare if your mixing a tight funky song, you'd use a plate reverb. Then again rules can be broken. Something to keep an eye out for is your pre-delay so to let the initial transient through before your reverb kicks in.

normally i setup two "stock" reverbs for the project, each on their own bus. one short, one longer. I use the send fx from each channel and send the amount I want into the stock reverb I want to hit, and adjust how much signal is sent to that bus. I will usually remove the reverb from my sound source plugin or audio; but if it happens to have some on it, i just send less of it at the reverb. I rarely use reverb as an insert FX. it's a way to put multiple elements into the "same space" and it's very light on resources usage/cpu. this is a little simplification, but the general idea.

9/10 times I use the EZD/SD drum bone dry without any reverb at all because I use it for layering/drum replacement. Sometimes I only use the room if the drum recording I get is bad. Hansa room being my favourite expansion. I really like doing this, a lot like drum replacement, but mute all the close mic and always get good result.

If the drum track for the song is EZD/SD, I use the ambient mics as the main reverb for drum, it depends on the song bpm, if the song is fast tempo, will turn it down, vice versa. Most of the time I'll turn it down because I will add another reverb too that is shared between all other tracks in the mix to make feel like played in a same room. I don't use Reverb FX on the bus in SD/EZD, just the 2/3 amb/room mics, all tracks are multiout when it is time to mix, and I bounce right away.

As for other reverb (outside EZD/SD for drum), for the past few years I've been using CLA style of adding reverbs to drum. 3 FX channels that is a blend of his 6 1sec reverb settings (like in Waves CLA Epic). I want to preserve the room sound of EZD so I sent all the ambient mics to the reverb to extend the tails plus other elements that is not close mic (snare bottom, OH etc) to that 3 reverbs. It's to create a bigger space to place the whole drum kit in it.

That same reverbs are shared between all other tracks in the mix, for tail extension too. They may have their own reverb/ambience channel but each of their reverb (not the track) get sent to the 3 CLA Reverbs. It's reverb layering technique. I think I get a realistic drum sound without the EZD/SD drum sound outshine everything else like a lot of song I've heard today. Most importantly they will all sound like being played at same place.

There also been several times, I capture the EZD/SD room/amb mic (reverb) using Accentize Chameleon and use it on other tracks and it worked great too. As for me, the main expansion I use is the Hansa Studio and if somehow the percussion and FX elements in the mix aren't from SD, there's preset in Altiverb for Hansa studio and Eventide Tverb is that Hansa Studio reverb and they are all quite similar. If those two didn't work, I use Chameleon like mentioned earlier.

This is all seem complicated but I use template so, everything is ready, just need to route them and took less than 5 minutes.

Will change to Sunset Studios Expansion soon, knowing all reverbs from the studio are available in other plugin form.

Thanks to Studio 1 splitter that makes thing easier too.

You mean even kick drums? If you add the reverb in a whole drum track, it also affects the kick. Is it okay?

Ye, that's what I do as well. So, you add the reverb on the whole drum track bus? Or for each drum track?

It's a pretty unique concept to me. I should look into it carefully later. Thanks for the details!

I am not making realistic sound '"rock" drums usually. But if I make a Midi pattern and send it to one of these drummer plugins, I will usually create a duplicate of that channel, and also the Midi data. In the channel 1 Midi, I will delete the hits which trigger the Kick and the Snare. Then I go to the second copy and delete the opposite Hits. So I have Tops and Kick/Snare on two channels with the Drummer. I use the Room reverb on a send for the Tops. I may add a little to the kick and snare, to put it into the "same room". But a majority of the time I will load a different Drummer, Drum Machine, or Sampler for the Kick and Snare; and then maybe even split that again. I setup a Kick and Snare for the track that I like; and I do not pay much mind to them being from a different kit or other source.

@Wolfgang. Like I said, I only use a small amount. I will put all of the reverb 100% wet on a separate track and turn it up so that I just barely hear it. If it messes up the kick I can either track and reverb each drum component separately or high pass the reverb track.

I have been looking for Free IR from studios to add into Reaverb. Do you know where I can get them?

This is one of those "how much blue should I use in my painting?" questions. If the verb works, use it. If it doesn't, don't. If you want reverb but a different one, use a different one. Should there be reverb on the kick? Yes, if it works, no if it doesn't work.
I don't comprehend discussions like this.

you mean IR of recording room of famous studios ? I don't think I have one nor I know where to get them. All of "studio room" reverb Ilike is already in a plugin form. Most of the free ones are hardware reverb captures and weird places. Can't think of studios, never look for them. Altiverb has all the good stuff already. Do you have any for example ?

Yes the Recording rooms. Like Abby Roads Recording room. Each Room I know has it's own tone so if you used an IR from that room say in
Reaverb it should sound like you recorded in that room.

Have you tried the IK Sunset Sound or Altiverb ? I think with those two, you ain't gonna be needing any IR. They are both true stereo (4 IRs per setting) so you won't get anything more realistic than that ie using one single IR wav file.

Hmm, I'm working on a painting right now. I wonder how much blue I should use in it. Difficult.
