Some services will only ever embed YT or SC playback directly. So the whole idea of an embedded widget highly depends on each community and hoster. AudioMack, Bandcamp and HearThisAt not supported in some popular DM service I checked.

I like Archive.org which allows direct links to OGG/M4A/MP3 but not Opus. For example:

Some forums can even support any direct link media and do a direct embed, but not all.

GitHub is also an option for the techy type, and can set up their own page for the songs themselves, no middle man required. But again, user has to click, no embed.

I abandoned AudioMack after they became too liberal with ad interruptions of songs, but without adblocker, YT is like that too probably.

I'm not aware of their services and prices at the moment, but you can upload/download tons of tracks from SC...

iirc vocaroo on top of being able to anonymously upload allows 96khz wave uploads as well. erases after 30 days I think of no play, like imgur? you can download the waves, I never embed anything at least on purpose but links work. seems like best bet imo for sharing clips quickly

 

that whyp looks decent but has ads on the free tier and no volume control? is the ad just the whyp logo in the corner or will there be popup ads or what? cant find that information on the site and the sample doesn't show. something like that with generic video would be nice too.
