Agree. But from my side it was sort of a paradox.

I'm sure that motivation behind composing music and producing AI for this is more or less same. Yes, money, but not only it. It's a challenge, it's a way to express oneself, way to use one's knowledge, way to be acknowleged etc.

People behind such systems are composers who found a way to automate their job. No surprise when they rob other composers.

The main problem of such production is lack of inspiration. This music cannot be inspirational. But sometimes people don't need music, all they really need is "music-alike environmental noise".

EDIT: The transfer of music making in PCs was inspirational. DAW, plugins, all this stuff. It crated jobs, gave people hobby etc. AI systems aren't inspirational in any way.

 

To avoid writing an essay on the possibility of AI being the ironic herald of some sort of international Socialist movement, a committee/organization of some sort to help off-set the lessening demand of human creators and laborers, a topic that many have been writing about for years with little attention given to them (a topic that even Dan Worrall has mentioned litely, in passing,) or writing an essay on the difference between musicians, creators and producers (leaving recording/mixing/mastering engineers out of the conversation entirely,) as it always seems to be overlooked that the three are vastly different, at least when put into a strictly business sense, I'm just going to address a couple random things briefly and then duck out the side door.

The beauty of this thread is that it turned into a Zappa freakout. To this day "Bobby Brown" is the only song that I know all the words to.

 

It was a good time...girls used to throw their bra and panties on the stage...
I guess his reasons (to produce music) were to make good music and have lots, lots of fun!
Nowadays I feel some are just looking for fame, self-promotion and showing off to the world.

If you can believe it, Bobby Brown was my at the time my then three year old daughter's favorite song for about a month. Of course she didn't understand one bit about it's meaning, but the name Bobby Brown and the music resonated for her. One day she asked me to draw Bobby Brown for her and told me what he looked like. He was brown and wore stripped pants !
