love this type of music! collected some tracks like this i really like! i am not able to critisize this in any way, but i would like to ask you,

if you can share some tips and tricks of making this style of music (or tutorials or ANYTHING :PP) - i didnt even tried but i think i will

Yeah I think many people would appreciate tips for this type of music which by the way oscillates between Downtempo and Trip-Hop for anyone interested. Very clear mix, sterling work.

honestly it starts at home with the sample selection...the kick and clap have very little processing done to them other then some EQ and came with a huge reverb already on there...we got the vocal sample+guitar from this new navy song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sKYvcjgqn5w and then transposed 2 audio vocals +/- 6 semitones (the higher one you have to listen for) in ableton....side note: dont trust the ableton warp the hardest part was probably warping the vocal to fit and swing with the drums

there are delays >(and) reverbs on literally everything except the high hats maybe (and even on those there is stereo imaging)....pretty important and reallly wonky I think on of the vocals we even have a delay and then a reverb and then another delay haha just get wild with it and have fun theres really no right way in my mind the more crazy the better...

the subtle FX/dreamy soundscapes that we have constantly going fill up a lot of space and really keep the track pushing along+theyre constantly moving between being panned on the left and right so its never sitting still in one spot...panning is your friend don't be afraid of it *yes*

id be happy to talk more or go into more detail if anyone is interested

indeed - trip hop is comming realy close to that style, but i would bet that there is a very special definition of that style
under downtempo i have a blurry idea : something like this:

maybe its called down trip (oh god that sounds unhealthy)

not that im into theese sub-sub-sub-categories, but its helping finding it on the internet ;)

 

Well I meant that the band releases tracks that are usually between downtempo and trip-hop, I wasn't specifically referring to this track. This track would be downtempo.
