I've never seen a single recording being mixed or mastered with AA plugins. I'd love to hear how great these records sounds.

As already said, sometimes our hearing cheats us, the placebo effect. That is why "pro"'s actually analyze what is happening (or not) on the signal when they want to learn something. Null tests are cool as well, extracting the changes to see what a plugin or hardware REALLY does.

no placebo whether you like it or not subjective. I can hear it on top end, showed up after I heard it too on expose. 2 db on top 1db bottom diff. there was compression done to the Rhodes, I took the verbs off everything I could and added in a drum verb and bus verb then all the signals hit the tube console at -18 vu. that's all on processing, and obviously on both versions. the only thing different should be the tube console or not, and since I didn't drive anything I just level matched the end product not one at a time- they were super super close obviously.

oh yeah, keeping in mind I duplicated my instances then run them dual mono cause acustica sucks, I had 4 instances on mix, 6 instances on groups and 24 line instances running with no buffering (wasnt gonna go on forever though) @ 55%cpu and 4300 ram. in my brief experience especially with the Neve/MFC is that when you obviously start compressing and mixing a track these baked in console vibes are exaggerated much more than in my example (plus the lfe mmm) the tube is more subtle just a bit of a shine. dunno I like the fact some crazy guy spent hours sampling some console somewhere and I'm getting some partial amount of its feng shui by recreating it via that volterra. def part of the appeal to me.

anyway there's my experiment I'm ready to get criticized now for doing it wrong and how it sucks and I suck and thats why it's not fun to post stuff like that. enjoy!

I don't own any of these plugins or use them at all. I don't care at all either way. But this is not a very realistic way to look at this. The people who use these tools seem to like them enough that they pay for them, but to put some form of work requirement on them to "prove your criticisms wrong" isn't how this kind of thing works. That's the developers gig to sell them. You want them to do work to provide you proof that something they paid for isn't good enough for you? That would be like them saying your complaint is only about money and asking for a copy of your bank account balance to prove you are actually able to afford buying a product.

You can put the effort in to either love them, hate them, and say whatever you want. If you want to attack the quality of them, it should be on you to provide the proof behind your claims. If they are as good as they claim them to be, they would be more than happy to have you not buy their "secret weapons" which are result of their own research and money; not using them, and not having your work sound as good as theirs does. That is their hopes about buying them in the first place.

It's not my kind of track, but this sounds really good audio quality-wise. I don't think your mix would sound any better with other plugins in a similar price range being used.

I use many Nebula and a few Acqua's on this song.

 

wills song is clean as fuck compared to what I came to post lol. oops oh well this isnt done but it DOES have the MFC and it's more complete, and the lfe is on it too. in the song the last couple things I did was throw a distortion and then elevate onto the snares, that is by far my least favorite element, oops. so yeah rough draft things have and will change and I didn't compare it too a reference track or anything. I just got stoned and worked on it.... clearly. I gave up on singing decently so I'm just gonna effect everything until I practice someday. someone said "you have a good voice but you're bad at singing" lol it's true.

anyway besides that this is only nebula, elevate and basslane. someone said on the last song "yeah that's doable with out nebula stuff" and yesss and no. I wouldn't ever argue a pro could do better than me with nebula them with stock plugins. I'm only arguing in my tiny world of making crappy diary entries in musical form that I COULDNT do better with stock plugins, and whatever you think of my mixing skills- that I AM punching above where I actually am because of nebula- maybe cause I'm a noob and suck at mixing, and it wouldn't fucking matter to someone else. of course. and fuck- even if it's 100% placebo if it's making me happier and more confident about my music (this is me confident, think about me not! haha) then...actually that would suck. this should be a fucking disaster- and if it IS a fucking disaster then it should be a fucking extinction level event.
