Excite Audio VISION 4X v1.1.0

Has anyone used this?
Is it actually any good?
From what I can tell it's not better than FLUX by a large margin.

 

Meh. It's a bunch of mediocre analyzers put into 1 plugin with terrible ergonomics.

 

I use Izotope Insight v1 still, and it is from 2006 or something. It has the nice green Ozone5 looking design to it. V2 is more like recent Neutron versions and has more options, but I usually end up with v1 open anyway. For even more simple option, I use the Multimeter plugin in Logic.

 

V4X is OK, FLUX is indeed at another level. The only problem I have with FLUX is it's not Apple Silicon native yet although it runs well under Rosetta. It uses a significant amount of CPU but it's not far from its closest competitor Process Audio Decibel (which is ARM compatible already).

I had my eyes over Oszillos Mega Scope and Spectrum 2 from Schulz Audio for a while. If I didn't get a good deal from FLUX I'd go for them. But I don't believe they cover 100% of what V4X does, they just fit my workflow better.

 

The only thing that bugs me about FLUX is the samplegrabber and bonjour network infra that are required for it to work. It's still my go to analysis tool for just about everything. Looking at vision 4x, it looks like they tried to model it after FLUX in many ways. The scene release says something about the 32 bit version of 4X playing hell with host graphics stacks? Apparently there's still some loose edges that need tightening code wise...

 

Looks ok, bit scruffy and shite, then you see that it was developed in collab with "NOISIA" and includes presets by them..

PRESETS, for an analyzer... let that sink in.. then close the browser window

 

idk, this still looks like a pretty big step up from some of this "excite audio" other plugins. I checked this out to give it a look, but i knew in advance it was probably only headed towards the trash can from other plugins. For the sake of accuracy, there is no scene release of this plugin.

 

4x is nothing special, trust me I used to work at a porn store when I was 18. Its been a while but I sold my fair share of analeazers.

How are presets for an analyzer funny? What if someone doesn’t know how to use one or they are a beginner? TOO FUCKING BAD NOOB? lol

 

In that case it would be time to RTFM?
