Another "gel" I assume? I actually looked at research papers from the real world, and yummy fish bladder is left in the beer, in small quantities. Around 17mg / l. Quite a few notorious brewers (Fosters et al) still use them. It's a pretty easy choice; to reject it, unless you have a passion for slurping down the internal organs of fish? So many beers and it makes so little difference. Except to the poor lil fish.

Anyway, anyone wanting to check there are no nasties in their booze can use barnivore, which is pretty comprehensive.

The EU would disagree w/ you. They are very interested in all allergens.

Wow. I thought I knew what crazy was until I read this

Doesn't matter what you call it, it still is what it is. The chair is still wood, which is still a chopped down tree if you want to call it that, or if you want to call it a chair. It's fact. Just cos you think it's stupid for someone to call it a chopped down tree doesn't mean it is no longer a chopped down tree, just as how calling it a gel does not make it any less of a fish swim bladder protein in your beer

And last I knew, steel doesn't dilute and dissolve into food like how a 'gel' does, and therefore permeate itself into the flavour (as I believe you have argued previously about beer tasting better because of it).

I'm not sure it's everyone else whose absurd and out of touch with reality here :rofl:.....but like you say, everyone is entitled to their own opinion (no matter how crazy it seems)

I'm definitely not a vegan, but I find this story a little sad. She definitely had quite a bad eating disorder (and no, it wasn't veganism), and it's too bad that she didn't get help for that before it was too late.

Once and for all: https://www.glutenfreebeers.co.uk/i...e isinglass, beers appear clearer and brighter.

"When the fermentation’s finished, some brewers put isinglass in the brew because it binds with any floating yeast particles in a kind of jelly, which then sinks to the bottom of the liquid. Although very little of the isinglass is likely to make it into the pint you hold in your hand, using by-products from animals in the process is enough to make most vegetarians and vegans avoid the beer in question."

The bit in bold is conclusive that it does form part of the final drink, and is therefore an ingredient contained within the drink that is consumed, no matter how little it is.

.....I'm now expecting conspiracy theories about brewers being part of the woke vegan conspiracy against themselves in some absurd twisted logic

I will conclude by giving you three more tips.
    1. if you want to use a study to support your opinion, it is recommended that you read the study beforehand. Otherwise, the results of the study may prove your opponent right. It is at least advisable to have understood the abstract before you start spouting complete nonsense.
    2. fosters does not use isinglass. Neither in the US, nor in AUS or the UK. It is advisable to make sure that the information is correct and does not come from some ideological militants who use ancient data to support their opinion.
    3. on the contrary, the EU agrees with my statements. That is why isinglass or other gelling agents are not on any list of ingredients in beer. If gel was used, then there is a note for allergy sufferers. But that is a completely different topic. It would make sense to check such things before claiming anything.

thats what i expected as an answer to this topic posted here, but yet (most) meat eaters just show disrepect.

And i also blame the media for directly connecting veganism to this, while its clearly an eating disorder.
(on top of that i assume she isnt even a vegan, she is a fruitarian, which is a subset of the veganism.)

Last thing i post in this thread.

No, not at all. What is written in the article, I can sign exactly as it is written there. It describes exactly what I have already described here several times. I can't help it if your imagination spins up something that neither I nor the article says.

Just leaving it here, just to note who may need to check facts, unless you know better than the actual manufacturers of course...

How can you agree with it and therefore say there is a bit of isinglass (which is fish swim bladder collagen protein) in the pint you drink and then at the same time say that it is not an ingredient in the pint you drink? It either is an ingredient that is consumed or it isn't; it cannot be both, no matter how much you try to say so.

This is a political/pseudo-religious argument. You may not think it is, but it is. And as such it's like two walls yelling at each other.

I was going to expound upon your at least better-than-legible comment, but then this three-letter sentence slapped me upside the head. If you believe this you must be a shut-in. Seriously, I could make a grocery list of dumb shit that I've heard just this week alone, and a lot of the really juicy droppings of dumb were from people who make our society "function," like doctors, State employees, bank managers, and cops. And don't get me started on anyone who works support, answering phones for a corporation.

Good advice. Quoting from the study (by a brewing ass) "the concentrations of isinglass contained in the beer marketed and consumed by the drinker are extremely low". Whereas you said the slivers of fish bladder vanished, as if by magic.

Blatantly false, they freely admit as much.

The EFSA is currently investigating, stating it is "uncertain" whether fish guts are an allergen.

The ideological militants who wrote the Foster's FAQ page say the product is not suitable for vegetarians. Since it has fish bladder in it.

I never said these things. And the article doesn't say that either. Just like the linked study doesn't say that. Personally, I think you are deliberately misunderstanding things here because it serves your opinion. But for everyone else who is interested: Gelling agents are used in brewing beer to bind suspended particles, unless something else is used for this purpose. The combination of suspended particles and gelling agent settles at the bottom of the brewing vessel. The clarified beer is then drained from the brewing vessel, while the slag of gelling agent and suspended particles remains at the bottom. The clarified beer is first filled into barrels or tanks and then into bottles. Any residues of the gelling agent that may have made it into the barrels or tanks will settle again at the bottom of the barrels or tanks. The beer that is filled into bottles or glasses, i.e. the end product that you consume, normally contains no gelling agent or, to put it with super cautious precision, the potential proportion of the gelling agent is so low that it is not measurable. If tiny traces of a gelling agent are measurable, it is due to production errors or gross handling errors during filling. However, declaring these as the valid normal case is big fat nonsense.
