hi there,i wantto automate the bypass on the highpass filter for a couple of beats on a kick. but im getting a little click sound when the bypass is activated and deactivated.
how can i avoid this click?

Click is due to fast amplitude changes. Just automate the cutoff frequency (to go to say 2Hz) instead of automating the bypass.
Or simply have two different audio tracks, where one has the highpass and the other doesn't, and place/arrange your kick(s) where it needs to have highpass and where it doesn't.

 

You could also try to adjust its exact position.

 

try to do it with the free filter by brainworx plugin alliance, use its internal bypass, not the DAW plugin bypass

Normally I use Split at Playhead to cut into slices (1/4,etc) and with all of them highlighted I go to the Track Inspector in Logic and add a Fade In value of 1-5 milliseconds. It changes every region you have selected/highlighted. And the same thing with the end of sample, FadeOut in Track inspector, value 1-5; adjust the values until the click is gone.

Obviously, you can use Nicky Romero/Cableguys KickStart2. It has a Anti-Click Smoothing, and it says it adds 6ms of latency. If you change the curve, you can easily fix your click; without cutting the waveform into segments. But I would prefer to not use another plugin.
