I just tried xvox and I like it. I am searching for a channel strip to add in every channel in my template. Xvox seems to fit my needs for quick mixing. It has a compressor, reverb, delay etc. But this is a vocal channel strip. Can I use it for instruments? I dont see a reason why not.

The last sentence of Your message is clearly an answer to the whole thread! Gotcha!

But if You're looking for opinion from different people, yes, sure! Possibilities are endless!

It is more advisable to ask people with more fundamental knowledge. In this case the logical result is, to gain (more) fundamental knowledge. :bleh:

There is no signal processor only for voice-material.

For an all purpose channel strip i'd find it lacking. First, the dynamics and tone sections are very limited (tuned for vocals probably) and in a busy mix with various sources you'll definetively need more control over that. Then you have the "space" module which is nice but you probably want to have that on another dedicated track (not necessarily, but having it on a channel strip that's all over the session seems unnecessary).

What i mean is that it may not fit a wide variety of sources, which is what you want if you're going for the "same channel strip on every track" approach.

But hey, if it works, it works.

specific plugins may have their controls and parameter ranges optimized for target use,

for ex. you may have finer control on vocal intelligibility frequency range on vocal channel strip, but finer control on low-mids on bass guitar channel strip,
or for ex. compression on vocal strip may be smooth and transparent, while on drum strip may be punchy, distorted and parallel,

that said, if a plugin makes sound results you like, there is objectively no reason to throw it away

Using vocal strips for anything but vocals is strictly prohibited. :guru:

Seriously, as the others already mentioned, if it works, it works.
