so it happened... i went to the Oppenheimer recently.

it's complicated, probably even a bit more than other Nolan's movies. I loved the beginning, it was kind of inspirational, but then it mostly went into boredom.

    However, the picture itself is absolutely beautiful and the use of powerful Ludwig's Göransson Music is so bold!!! Before this I only recall Hans Zimmer being put so much in front of the movie itself;

and the more i'm listening to this great Music, the more this movie grows on me. Don't go to watch this movie expecting to find any sense. Go to the cinema, to experience an amazing picture, actors and most of all - powerful Music.

Quantum mechanics is something no one really understands but I will probably understand this movie better than Tenet :) I'm going next week and looking forward for it. I listened the soundtrack and there are some very nice tracks!

First Cam is already out for it.

So it is on my list.

The mathematics are perfectly clear, QT in a normal mathematical view is beautiful and very logical - you can even follow it step by step. Its just the way how it was presented in the pop science. (Adding here and there a massive amount of reduction, stipulating the whole theory to make it understandable for the masses and this obscures the whole theory. It is the same with String theory, which has its applications in modern theoretical physics still today, but the pop science made it non understandable and simply wrong in some parts.)

Tenet really had a great core idea (the fundamental concept of causality and added some normal sci-fi into it and you had a very good idea on paper), but it became confusing very quickly, despite that i didnt even finish watching, but i watched the Bonus disc, how the movie was made - which was very interesting.

Hopefully this movie has again fucked up audio like tenet, because you should watch it in the cinema instead at home.

i mean, i read the biography of Oppenheimer, Feynman (and some other books from him) and some others - so i am not really interested in that movie.
Both biographies talk in lengths about time in Los Alamos, so i am not sure what the movie should add there for me.

CAMs are meant to preview the movie for a me a bit until WEBRIP arrives, which should be like a long in the future. Earliest prediction for streaming release is October 30, 2023.

also for the barbie movie? :bleh:

So far its a really boring summer concerning new movies and it aint looking better with the writers and actor strike in the US.

And since rarbg is offline its very hard to browse and discover foreign movies.
Man it was so easy to just enter spanish x265 into rarbg and viola.

Anyway - i wonder if people are up to go watch Oppenheimer for its super long runtime in the cinema. Its 3h, for me 120min is max to sit in the cinema for a movie.

Thanks for the OST @SAiNT - gosh sounds very beautiful, gonna add it to my OSTs.

    Interesting and captivating modern music.
Can't wait to hear it in the context of the film, especially since I'm a physics and quantum reality buff(oon).
Goransson has already been nominated for an Oscar.
This could be the film that delivers it to him. :)

    :rofl:My style.

AAMOF, i can watch a movie and enjoy it even with the worst picture quality as long as the audio is decent, and the movie is worth it obviously.
Doesn't work the other way though, but If the movie is great it will translate.

Now, if the movie is crap, no picture quality will save it. So ill watch it in TS and then re-watch in HD when available.

i think the movie sound of freedom could be good against boredom, but it also can depress some people.

That's one interpretation but not the only one. But yes, there's a movie about it, that much is self-evident.

Basically a beautiful postmodern score, sweet and bitter to listen to (I say this from the listening point of someone who has listened to a lot of avantgarde music). It's very pleasant to hear, very easy listening, with surprising tempo changes on some tracks. Anyway, another film era with its own film music. I would like to see giants like Elliot Goldenthal or Don Davis composing for films like this. Very annoying the fact that both preferred to abstain from Hollywoodian marketing controversies and went back to concert halls (they gave preference to operas and live film projections, as they claimed to prefer to have more control and creative freedom). We gained a beautiful postmodern score by mr. Göransson... but we lost a lot with the absence of these giants. The music of today's movies could have taken a very different path...

—Now, I have become Death. The destroyer of worlds. Oppenheimer nurtured himself as a celebrity by infamously quoting this verse from Gita after seeing the result of his work for the first time. After the first atomic bomb was detonated in the New Mexico desert, effectively starting the Atomic Age: As Oppenheimer was directly responsible for building the first atomic bomb, he sees himself as Death. The film ends with Oppenheimer stating to Albert Einstein that he believes his creation of the atomic bomb is what is eventually going to destroy the world.
Yes, that's really depressing, but that's life (in black and white, and it is precisely this ambiguity, translated into a sweet bitterness that is technically and emotionally well reproduced in Göransson's score)! "The death. The Destroyer of Worlds". Oppenheimer's words when embracing the responsibility of those who dared to release the destroying fire of the gods (translated, by the composer himself, in the brilliant title of one of his cues American Prometheus). "I suppose we all thought so," Oppenheimer said, then resigned "one way or another." A lesson that "Oppenheimer", with the narrative power of cinema, must not let us forget, especially today, when the scientific voice finds a skeptical, individualistic and polarized society, where the conflict between NATO (actually USA) and Russia recovers the nuclear discussion in the world. Collective memory is short, which makes it necessary for each generation to remember, if only through a movie, that the detonation of only two atomic bombs left a scar not only on the destroyer of worlds, but on humanity.
