Crap! I think I have them both but like 80:20 or 70:30.
I can think using only images, videos, text, smell or sounds instead of my inner voice or I can mixed them together.
And I have them in proportions like 70% of the time this is only my inner voice and 30% other stuff.

 

Yeah, I do see images. I mean, even scenes from the past. I never experienced a ''vision''. I think the only thing that come close to that phenomena of ''voice in the head'' are melodies or vocal lines. Other then that, I never spoke to myself or heard someone in my head saying something other then reliving a disturbing scene from the past.

I can describe my inner voice like it is me talking but with mouth closed.
Some kind fo commentary and adviser. And even when I am writing this post right now I am reading in my head what I am writing on the keyboard automatically just clicking letters on the keyboard and voice reading the whole words.

I think it can be corelated with early age and school and learning how to write and how to read.
And some other things like that. And other stuff can influence it in different ways. But most of the people if I am correctly have inner voice inside their head.

So I am curious how it looks like in your case.
Why you doesn't have it.
Why does it happen.
How looks your learning of reading and writing and other stuff.

 

Well thats not a voice in your head when you type something and hear it. It's because you are saying it. Or is it what you guys are talking about? I thought everyone was saying someone (whatever type of entity) or themselves were talking to themselves and having a conversation or something.

 

It can be conversation.
For example you are in the city and just saw girl from school which you liked.
And after you saw her.
You can have many conversations inside your head.
You thinking using your inner voice.
You talk with you.
Oh my god. She looks even more amazing than in school.
I am curious is she is single.
Maybe I should catch her and talk with her.

Example shit.
You thinking using your inner voice.
You talk to you with mouth closed.
You don't hear physically anything.
This is a "voice" of your thoughts inside you.

And you can see some images of her from the past.
And compare to this what you see now.
But those images can be called also imagination.


People! Why they didn't teach us things like this in school?
This should be some basic thing in school.
Those things are very important!
Also many things about life.
How to deal with failure.
How to deal with depression and other shit.
How to deal with loss like death of family member.
How to deal with anxiety.
How to deal with time. Organisation.
How to make success.
How to do things that you wanted to do!

Those things are everywhere!
And they are very important!

Ok we have now internet and Google or new AI chat bots shit.
But what about 20 years ago?
Modern times and internet is no excuse!
Wake up people!
It's the time!
Don't live your life somewhere else.

That never happened to me.

I see scenes from the past, yes but never had a monologue or a conversation.

Wait, not true, I had some conversation when I dream. But other then that, I have never experienced what you are talking about.

I can say things out loud or quietly or even without moving the lips just like the example of typing on my keyboard that you just gave but I don't have a conversation or voice thinking about something in my head. I don't know. When I think, I just think but there's no voice that comes with it.

Try to remember. Some vivid memory of it.
Imagine that I am with you in your class and we are the kids trying to learn how to read and write. For few weeks. Few months maybe.

I'm not sure which type of answers you are expecting but as far as I remember I was looking at letters and repeating them and doing the same with a sequence of letters.

How did it went for you ? Didn't you just saw symbols and was repeating what we told you it sounded ?

I remember I was very literal in my reading. Doing the usual kids mistakes. We have some very weird sequence of letters in French and sometime , it doesnt sound like it's written at all. I mean, its the same in english.

 

I learned very quickly to read and I was different than others when I was looking on text I saw the whole words and read them instantly.
If I was readed loud to the class using my mouth.
For half of the second I had words in my head using my inner voice and I read the whole sentences.
If I readed book like myself inside my head.
I was readed like using only mind I saw parts of the few sentences from the site and I quickly readed them.
So I was able to read the whole site in few seconds.
But it took me few years and it was later.
Before that it was probably word after word instantly like connected letters are not letters but instantly words.

This is very fascinating and really deserves to be study by scientist.

Yeah, It's interesting. I was never good at language. I was first in Math for my whole grade until I started high school, but at language, I was the most horrible one, or one of the student with the lowest grades in French. Now I speak 3 languages fluently and I don't even know how to code. haha. A total flip.

Neuroscience will become an integral part of the AI sooner then later and it's already a huge part of the big pharma investments nowadays so all of this must have been studied in depth already.

I read the "novel" after tripping heavily at a Grateful Dead show at Madison Square Garden in the 80's in it's entirety from cover to cover in under two hours. I enjoyed the film too.
