I start with a normal search engine (Startpage, in my case), then I mostly go to Wikipedia (and there even to 'sub pages') and if necessary to genre-related pages, which are shown by the search.

 

MusicButler to keep up with new releases.
Chosic to get an idea of most popular tracks by an artist/in a genre & to find similar music/genres and artists.
Wikipedia when it's rabbit hole time.
Or just last.fm when I feel nostalgic.
