You can drop samples into most if not all granular synths but I'm looking for one which has a live recording feature.

I want to use this for my liveset and therefore it needs to be straight forward with a record button for example to do a take and then have it automatically loaded into the synth/fx for me to mess with a few mapped knobs...

(I want to do impro pads with a mic/instr. Input and of course with a reverb/delay. Maybe also some other weird FX is suited for this, doesn't necessarily need to be 'granular')

There is a new plugin I think it's called jellyfish, so far the only granular looper i found but it's very limited and doesn't work for me.

Is there any other VST with this feature?

Are you already familiar with MSuperLooper from Melda? It may be close to what you are after (but maybe not exactly) when used in conjunction with Granular fx plugins:

Thanks, I'll have a look. I already have a working looper setup implementation with my DAWs stock instruments, so using a granular fx might be worth considering. I always thought that a synth would be better since it has access to the whole sample all the time but honestly I never tried a granular fx vst so far...

 

In that case (no live-looper granular SYNTH available) the question is:

Which FX is good to easily create an atmosphere/soundscape from a random source (voice/acoustic instruments)... ?

 

Not exactly a VST, the Flexor package for the Scope Modular synth is a collection of Modular modules, such as Oscillators, filters, envelope generators, etc. and it has some very interesting granular modules. Those granular modules are meant to work with live audio input, so every kind of sound gets granulized in real time. This plugin only works on DSP based Scope hardware, even the older PCI based cards, so if you find one second hand Pulsar with included a Flexor 3 license, it could be a lot of fun, but I'm talking about this because the developer of the Flexor package is Assaf Dar Sagol which is now the CEO of the Polyverse company which develops some granular based plugins such as manipulator and i Wish, so for real time manipulation I would use a combination of a looper like plugin, with a real time granulizer such as the two made by Polyverse.

I'm not sure the "live" requirement is what I was thinking about. My suggestion was more in the realm of what Ed Sheeran does for live shows (or was doing) with a looper and doing that stuff live from scratch. If the request was for something which can be changed around in "realtime" or automated in the DAW, Arturia Fragments fits the bill if you don't have the money for a Hologram Microcosm pedal:

+1 for this. Back when I was just playing around with effects in Audacity, before knowing really anything about audio production, this algorithm always produced gorgeous, ambient results.
