Yes, I know that I mean on every import files you have asking to copy them to the working directory, but for me that makes no sense, since sometimes i import a lot of files and then in my working HDD is piling up with double unnecessary files...
What i need is when you want to empty the pool just to remove files from the pool (e.g. to only erase files that have been recorded in Cubase/Nuendo or edited new copy of external files) physical erase function in some cases when you are working a lot and overwhelmed with work, you hit erase and you got your files lost for good, no recovery, etc. It is not essential but it would be nice. With that part of Cubase usage after 10yrs of working I can't still get in touch, all other is okay, perfect. And that sample browser is nothing but big mess, comoaring to fl studio. Managing 3rd parties samples and directories is difficult as hell. Integration with their own samples is excelent, but that right zone browsing is still a mess and yet buggy. In FL everything in that regard is faster and snappier... I use FL rare just for sketching purposes, but it would be nice to have one complete daw. Still cant get better sample tempo detection than FL studio since ancient time and simple and effective and tbh better sounding due to algos in FL than in Cubase... I love Cubase, but for some simple tasks it is so hard. Note gliding like in FL studio would benice addition also and that is ancient feature in FL Studio.
FL Studio Style piano roll when with a 1 mouse button click you draw, copy, or delete or edit piano role note. So far no daw is similar...

I will be happy with toggle command for show and hide automation for selected track. Now have to use two key commands. So stupid

there is no perfect daw but improvement is key everything is about being the best as u can be at everything not just for people to kiss your ass because u great but for u too look in the mirror and be like i did that and im am the best i can be im not slacking in no way .....if i create a nice midi file i can't drag it into the cubase browser why ? because of the old coding and laziness i already know how they are they smoke a lot of shit and think about features more than improvements of what they already created ....that alone is based on Ego .....now on that note when him or her or me mention what can be improved because we want everybody to be they best right and every company to be they best but then u will get this sentence '' there is no perfect daw'' there is no perfect person i think we know this i think we like to talk about improvements because thats what everybody need to be doing and the companies that beg for our money .....i stay improving myself so ima stay telling other people and companies to improve also.....

yeah basic functionality that every daw should have ....especially the daw that charge every year for a update and been out every since i was born
im am a gamer also people also do this in the gamming industry they take up for the developers that dont give a dam about them and that sold them a glitchy game that is very very ignorant and you not going to get nothing good out of telling developers its cool for them to sale u glitchy products without improving it thats like telling them to keep doing it ...Developers be like we don't have to improve or try no more lol

I asked because I wanted to make sure you weren't referring to dragging a compatible file, audio or midi, into the project window, which is something you can do.
I'm not sure why you would want to drag a file from your OS's filesystem into a different location on that filesystem in Mediabay, which is simply a representation of the filesystem of your OS, but doesn't mirror all the functions that are available to your OS's file explorer.
I have never needed, nor expected to be able to perform filesystem management within my DAW, and I have used them all. If I want to export/import a file then I use the file export/import function in the DAW. Or in the case of Mediabay, I just drag the files into the project window. I'm not sure how that hinders my work, or slows me down in any way, but perhaps you and I have different ideas about what a DAW is for and what it is not for.

I stopped using Cubase after v5, when it still had a GUI that I remember being very similar to the multiple evolutions resulting in Cubase SX. I absolutely LOVED that GUI. I tried returning to Cubase a month or two ago and what a complete disaster it has become. Like others have mentioned, they seem to now focus on the film and television markets and not studio recording or producers anymore. Everything felt crowded to me. Everything seemed too "high contrast" to me. So I would only want one feature: a complete overhaul of the GUI so that it works equally well on a laptop as it does a giant 4k television (which it currently optimized for). I'm not talking about just having a "laptop" environment. I'm talking about the GUI WORKING on whatever screen size and resolution the user has available. Like it did in the SX/v5 releases.

Ah, yes that feature was removed by v8.5. Never used it or missed it.

    this sounds funny

Cubase added a certain workflow following many many users that wanted a "one window GUI" like Ableton or Studio One, with mixer and project window together, or editing audio/midi underneath the project window.

But pay attention: that's A CHOICE, you can decide to use the usual GUI that Cubase has since 1997 lol

Probably you referring to something else and I didnt understand or maybe you didnt investigate the preferences and used the default settings, which are set on the "one window" GUI

Logic is the same way, but even though it's not frequently done; you can detach almost any window and it will float to wherever you want. If you even care. Can't Cubase do this also? They copy everything else that is worthwhile... :winker:

It doesn't do a detach, it will pop out a second window. Similar but different.

Some of these are really quite picky. But when the A key on your keyboard doesn't 1 click open automation in 2023; you have to still pick your battles. Using the phrase "Make it like SX was" should cause the user to need a floppy boot disk. They clearly have fond memories of reformatting hd.

Well, the automation thing isn't even true, there are several different show/hide automation key commands available to be assigned. If you're in the project window, not the lower zone, it's Folding: Toggle Tracks or Unfold Tracks.

I'm just reading the thread. One comment was about 1 click to open Automation lane display for selected track. Logic's is global, so it does every channel; wether selected and highlighted or not. Another I don't really see the point of is macros for multiple parameters, CC# implementation is rather varied from plugin to plugin and you would end up re-mapping as much as you would have done successfully. This is like Smart Controls in Logic; and overall it is basically a waste of time, too.
Or Auto-mapping controls in general, Midi Learn takes like a few seconds per control #, and can be done for just the few parameters you want to control. Some things, it is just faster to actually do the work.

Splitter like Studio One. I recently started experimenting mixing in S1 (bored with Cubase) and recreate my template and it feels like hard when I have to mix in Cubase again. It definitely lowered the track count a lot since I like to have hundreds of FX channels ready (but deactivated) so I can quickly pick & blend one that suit the track and move on. Also can internally bus them for gating and overall tone shaping.

    MULTITOUCH SUPPORT!

I would like to ask one question! Does anyone have any information....Does Steinberg and Slate Audio have some kind of agreement, so Steinberg cannot include TOUCHSCREEN (MULTITOUCH) SUPPORT??? Hundreds of people on the forums have asked about it, but they seem to have turned a deaf ear to this request. So everything "smells" that there is some kind of agreement between Slate Audi and Steinberg.. That people who want multitouchscreen control will be conditioned to buy exclusively Raven..

Being able to set track delays on a per-articulation basis with expression maps. Digital Performer has already implemented this.
