    HORNET
    https://www.hornetplugins.com/plugins/hornet-magnus-mk3/

    This everyday, hornet is underrated

I use magnus MK2... didnt know there was a 3rd version so I dont know if the 3rd version is a hog or not. The autogain plus pleasing distortion is very nice to see in a plugin

I tend to just go with Live's built in, can go from slightly warm to really brutal nastiness. Dry/wet is a must to dial in just the right amount of grit. Also really light on CPU.

Then you might as well use their free clipper directly, which has more options when it comes to clipping. But basically, good hint.

They're pretty close to releasing Free Clip 2 if someone wants to check out the beta. Password and download link on their Discord server.
Suite includes a very basic tone generator, panner, meter, EQ, delay, convolver and compressor too.

I wanted to gel with it, but the sound quality is not there. Very aliasing prone. I prefer FreeClip and PeakEater.

Yes, relatively low CPU if I remember correctly, but introduces significant latency, which leads to problems in the recording and mixing stage. During recording (both audio and MIDI) I try to avoid anything that introduces latency, since it messes up the timing and increases overall DAW latency. Yes, there is automatic plugin delay compensation in my DAW (Ableton), but it typically causes more problems (if it works at all).
