Hi. I was trying to install Waves 12. The installation happened without any issues, but when I rebooted my system, it got stuck on the Apple logo. The progress bar gets stuck on 100%, and the outline stays that way. I tried booting into safe mode - didn't work. I restored my time machine backup. I have a 2019 MBP with Catalina. Any ideas?

 

did you also install soundgrid? i read somewhere that some people have had it cause kernel panics. it could also be pure coincidental, you could try again without installing soundgrid, or just try again and when it happens again start up in verbose mode, then you can see where it goes wrong.

 

Did you just fresh install Catalina ???
whats your Apple model ???
im 80% sure isnt Waves

 

I guess you have installed the Avid Sound Bridge, which is incompatible with Waves Sound Grid. Same happened to me (total crash of Mac Aúdio), just uninstall the Waves-Grid and other Miixer-adds via the Waves-installer,before You restart, and You are good again.

You should mention what release you have tried installing, specifically. For example, there is a "Fixed" version of a v12 release; another broken, etc. Without the actual version/build information and team info (if any), you would maybe never figure it out.

If it is an Intel Mac on Catalina; is there some reason not to install v14 anyway? If I had this happen on a machine; I would consider using a different release, even if you do end up going with V12. Some users with issues on V12 installation have reported success by using a release by RET.

TRAZOR's waves 14 release worked flawlessly for me. M1 on 12.0.1 - cuz I aint updtaing unless I need to and have had no issues the past year +

Same happened to me. Go to settings and go to your start-up programs. If you see anything soundgrid right click and open file location and delete those files. You have to make sure you delete every waves folder you can find. Select Finder-> Go hold option while selecting library and delete waves folder there too. Waves leaves behind so many files and they're hidden deep you just have to find them all and delete them.

There is an option to cleanup and remove ALL waves files/content in the Waves Central application. At least, it is available when you do a WC Offline Install. I just had to use that feature recently; a version I tried to install wants Metal Support so all GUI's were blank. The Waves Cleanup did exactly what I needed it do. I haven't looked around for any remaining junk files, but it cleaned up enough to properly install a different version.

 

Oh yea? Noted, thanks. After my last waves install attempt I'll pass on waves I'll use T-racks and FabFilter lol. I know exactly what the guy is talking about that made this post waves makes your system damn near unusable after you try to uninstall it. The disk just spins and spins. I luckily found a fix by deleting the login in items.
