Hi guys, Ive finally finished my first trance track. I know probably everything is wrong with it and havn't got a clue how to mix anything but just wanted to have a go and see what people think.

I like the pads chord progression.

 

man for the first track it sounds awesome, well mixed, also in that picture is the mysterious antenna near Chernobyl

 

Not a regular listener to Trance music but I really enjoyed this track, it gave me some nostalgic vibes of Robert Miles and Gigi D'Agostino in a modern trancy package which was quite nice.
It never got boring, which can easily happen at a length of +10 minutes, so you did a good job of arranging the track.

Besides praise, I also have some slight critiques which will hopefully help to make future tracks better:
1. The vocal had a strong peak in the low sibilant region, somewhere around /kHz I would guess. If that was tamed with a simple EQ cut or perhaps a band-specific de-esser that would be great, occasionally it was getting a bit strong. Luckily the vocal itself was well balanced for the style of track.
Though perhaps not pulling the highpass as high could help to increase the impact and weight of the performance. Not too much though, otherwise, it interferes with the remaining elements.
2. I don't know about other people, but I'm a huge fan of two melodies mixing in the last chorus.
So let's say you have the synth from around 4:06 playing one melody, then the same synth plays another melody at 8:20.
Later, when both melody lines come together for the last chorus, they form an epic union by playing at the same time.
It's not often that I hear this happen in music but when it does and it's done right it's absolutely glorious.

Anyways, keep making music, you did a good job on your first track! Better than most of us at our first released track most likely haha

Like it! On a dreamy side. Nice for just listening to it. You could also make a more festival/club-friendly remix of the track.

The kick downbeat is a little too present and the snare backbeat is a bit harsh by themselves.
Not sure what to do though... maybe drop the level of kick or EQ (and/or and add in something else?)
Something similar for the backbeat.
Overall I like it!

Really enjoyed the track, probably was among first listeners when you posted, played it on my laptop speakers, no big complaints there.

Had another go with Realphones in Night Club environment, noticed your sub bass layer is overpowering the kick, maybe lower it for few db's.

 

For a first track it should be sounding like shit and it's not. So either you are using good sample packs or you are learning with ppl really good around you. For mixing and mastering check out mymixlab.com they have lots of free youtube vids and also paid tutos all high quality stuff if you really want to learn the craft.

When I play it on different equipment some times it sounds ok and other times the bass sounds really loud. I’m still really trying to learn how to mix from YouTube.
