Despite Ableton saying there won't be a Push 3, there's a new Push!!!

Ok, we disagree here and that's fine since we've no clue about Ableton's long-term plans.

The thing is though, the non-legit userbase will not splurge a lot of money on a controller. And I speculate that at some point they will come with a hardware+software bundle for less money, enticing more people to go legit.

Now they've got a platform of their own like NI, AVID, or Akai, I'm sure they'll shoot for tighter intergration. For the whole Live ecosystem this is probably a good thing, legit or not.

I think at some point they should consider a keyboard version, pretty sure it's a much larger market than pad controllers.

pad controller is very unique. I mean who does them and then really good working with Live?

Does Push even work with other DAWs?

Keyboard version would be very nice, i mean there is still a big userbase, which cant work with a pad controller (i assume that thinking about me)
I mean still nothing for me, have to many keyboard controllers already.
Also well it would require for me to go legit and i cant auth. Live in an a car without internet access.

Push can work with other DAWs natively as a basic midi pad controller or very sophisticatedly with third-party software, neither of which I've used with my Push 2 - I see no reason to, Ableton is more than capable and Push opens it up massively.

I'm sorry to hear about your circumstances, I hope they change soon. We make the best of our situations. Good luck.

Got my Push 3 controller version yesterday, replaces my Push 2 which I had since 2015. This thing is fab, the pads are lovely to play, really responsive, not had to tweak the pad settings at all, which is something I couldnt perfect on Push 2, the MPE pads have also made my Sensel Morph redundant too, the touchstrip also vastly superior.

Its a brilliant upgrade over Push 2.

I didn’t observe the prices before the release of Push 3, do you guys think 350$ is a good price for push 2 or will it drop a bit more in the next weeks?

Wait it will come down to 250 and that is more than enough for it.. as even the quality is Bad...it become sticky also like the one Push. I have before about 5 push 2 and push 1think three.. now I stay on 1 with no glue cover...and no I didn't see any advantage at 2 to 1 .. yes no display and bla bla ...but I never edit Samples in that small display ..the main advantage of fixed length edit notes in sequence you have also on the 1 . And the one has a full edit user mode so you cane use bome to scroll in the live browser that was not possible with the 2. The browse Samples in the push 2 was a pain in the a....slow and laggy

If you want other sample you go to the parent Directory again....really they never fixed that shit

Had my Push 2 since 2015, and as soon as it started to go sticky I got all that rubber coating stuff off, using a little bit of Elbow Grease paste, was good after that til I sold it for my Push 3.
On same subject Push 3 doesnt have that coating on it :D

I think I finally have it sorted ...What Ableton discontinued wasn't the options.txt that still exists in version 11.. what doesn't work is that one line of code WITHIN options.txt that disables the VST checker when you bootup!

    update:-

I d/l version 11 and tested it. It works using that code I pasted previously..

When I say it works.. I mean it works for live looping purposes.. When you click a button it will auto arm the track as well as give it focus.

    -----------------------------

It involves creating a .txt file called 'options.txt' within C:\Users\(YOUR: ID)\AppData\Roaming\Ableton\YOUR VERSION of LIVE\Preferences

type in -EnableArmOnSelection / save and reboot Ableton

    ^^ That's the important bit

Has anyone managed to link the push 3 with a clandestine copy of Ableton yet? I'm morbidly curious. Lol

To be honest? I don't know anyone willing to spend all that extra money on something that is quite frankly not going to be that much of a benefit over the previous version.. It actually reminds me of Arnie's Terminator.. Newer models are always being sent back, yet the machines never learn. They just need to send back 2arnies instead of 1 newer model!

    Are you joking ?
Do you know laptops exist ?

Compare (even a small) laptop screen to ANY hardware controller display
    Push 3 screen is ...
    230.4mm (w) x 38.4mm (h)
    9.07in (w) x 1.51in (h)

Those display and knobs are USELESS.

Mouse keyboard laptop/computer AND generic controllers for the win !
We don't need "hardware integration" : we need VISUAL FEEDBACK from ANY controller into the f*k*n DAW !

That's what Studio One (and others) made.
    Touch OSC and Lemur too.

Not crappy 10 pages clicks settings on small screen
And even worse : putting a computer inside the controller ... witch can't do 1/10 of a real computer

To quote somebody in this forum:

I personally prefer a laptop, sure. But I'm not going to use the touchpad for the set, or assume there would be space for a mouse. Tweaking a plugin one parameter at a time is not my idea of fun on stage.

Just like I'm not going to drag my entire studio for one to one controller mapping with synths to a gig. But that's just me, I can live with my useless junk easily.

And calm down, your hyperbolic writing makes you look like you're out of breath.
