R.I.P. John Giblin Deceased May 14, 2023

Already on May 14, 2023, the British (Scotland) bassist John Giblin passed away. According to the press release, he lost the fight against an illness, which was not detailed.
Giblin was a recognized luminary on the bass, whether that was an acoustic-, electric-, fretless- or a double bass.

Perhaps you know him mainly as a member of Simple Minds, with whom he manned the thick strings for four years. But once you go through the booklets of his collection, you will come up with countless names of musicians who appreciated his skills. Skills that were compared to those of Weather Report bassist Jaco Pastorius.

A small and thus incomplete list of artists with whom he has collaborated: Brand X, Jon Anderson, John Martyn, Peter Gabriel, Kate Bush, Annie Lennox, Joan Armatrading, Phil Collins, Fish, Al Green, John Lennon.
Giblin lived to the age of 71.
