I've been using XMplay for years with some Winamp DSP plugins, including the old but still good enhancer 0.17 and a 32-bit VST loader which has a few transient shapers and Xfer dimension expander enabled. Not the most elegant solution since it can only load 32-bit VSTs but it does its job, loads a HUGE number of obscure formats and sounds amazing to me. Plus the skin I'm using looks nice at 4k and shows the cover art.

I've used foobar2000 since... long time ago. The only time I even see the GUI is when I'm editing tags.

    Neutron Music Player
Expensive, but has features that no other has (compressor, editable parametric eq, dlna, smb, etc.).
A bit difficult to setup at first, especially EQs.

Great! I installed 2.0 yesterday and a lot of components didn't work on the new x64 version, glad they are running to upgrade them. The only missing for me is the musical spectrum but for that one I have to stay in x86 I'm afraid.

You can drop all of these things into JRiver/Foobar200 using Fab Filter plugins, etc.

I don't like JR (too bulky) so I installed foobar (android) and it just asked me if I want to read device or transfer from ftp, but I don't want any of those options, and I don't want to run ftp servers.

What I want is to connect to foobar on my pc on lan (like server) OR to the whole shared folder/library.
I chose media servers but it doesn't see anything (tried with IP and also whole network shared folder path).
Neutron sees the shared folder or dlna server (duh?).

How does android foobar connect with pc foobar and makes use of (any) installed vst VIA ANDROID?

    I just read this:
How to Use VST Plug-Ins in Foobar
While is a GREAT effort (and free too) it doesn't meet my needs.

First, I don't have any 32bits and I'm not going to install any unless are synths that I need.

Then, more than EQs I need a compressor, neutron is not what I precisely need but it goes very near.

I would need a look-ahead dynamic compressor/leveller similar to winamp audiostocker or rocksteady plugins, I don't care about hifi audio ( it gives a slow pumping effect, could be annoying to most), it's just that when I do heavybag with gloves and tracks change they need to be more or less on the same loudness no matter what, if not, I have to remove gloves, blablah.

If someone knows anything else (for android) that does this (dynamic compressor and lan smb or dlna) I would be very grateful.

foobar2000 can load vst2/3 64-bit (yes, can load neutron too). The information in article above is a bit old.

    Can I do both?

A trained eye would have told me not for what I need that info for but that in that screenshot there are some nasty phase issues on the low botom, the kick and the bass are cancelling each other real bad so I needs my attention in the mix.

For things like that I need that info for. It's faster than using your ears, bro!

We've been able to use VSTs with Foobar since ~2008 with George Yohng's VST wrapper.

To enjoy music or to analyze your own music? It's a bit of a strawman to suggest that all this time you were talking about using the visualizations in foobar ONLY for spectral analysis of music for which you have access to the original stems/tracks to re-mix or master, while EVEYRONE ELSE was talking about a music player for listening to music for enjoyment--other people's music, not for analysis to fix a mix. Seems silly to me to perform such a task in foobar anyway, I'd rather do that in a proper audio editor like Wavelab or Goldwave. Like, is that really your answer, bro?

    Can I do both?

Also people are enjoying music by sticking long VSTs chains on the fx channel. I wonder why are they doing that? Why not open the DAW directly, bro?

I'm still using foobar to this day. Haven't updated it in years. Made my own design something like 8-10 years back. Honestly, it's still one of the biggest accomplishements of my life, because it's fucking perfect.

I've always had hassles trying to get the VSTs I like to work, while JRiver just works and it has other useful features that I use.
