Hello Guys,

I have a Spotify that has quite grown this year and I'm pretty happy with that. Now that I make some money with it i want to buy some plugins and I recently wonder about those 2. It's mainly for writing melodies quickly that I will arrange after or that I will play with my guitar so I don't know if The Captain Melody is as quite good as Melody Sauce. I also have scaler but it's manily "classical" in terms of Melodies.

Maybe you have other options ? Also for the users, do you thing it is necessary or any good ?

 

captain plugins are ok i have them, to me it sounds generic with the melodies so scaler is abetter choice

 

I have no idea what those things do, but if you're looking for an easier way to create melodies have you thought of hiring somebody to do it for you?

 

I don't want to hire someone and I'm not making that much money ! The idea was to have some inspiration to rearrange after !

 

For the fisrt time - Captain plugins looks better than Melody Sauce(as i suppose), chord progressions, more options, editable piano roll, etc, etc, etc. But there is one big disadvantage of this program, which greatly reduces its effectiveness and value - you must Always Be Online. What can happen if their servers lie down, or DDOS attack on them, or with unstable internet connection, etc. There are a lot of places(and in USA also) - unstable connection with low speed.And also there are some plugins - similiar to Captain, that works without internet ( only registraion detals).But if you have a stable internet connection with good speed without interruptions - take Captain. But i never choose this plugins - i prefer my music comtputer must always be offline to avoid risks and damages from the web. This is my subjective opinion. I wish you stay safe and healthy

 

I'm always on Internet and have a safe connection (Europe). BUT It is really a big drawback... This is quite difficult. In terms of use, Captain Melody seems to be better ? I strangly found the jazz and Lofi section more useful than scaler (with the possibility to have a rythms --> Feature that I didn't see in Scaler)

 

How does Captain Plugins compare to Orb Producer 3? Can anyone share?

 

I actually use them both for ideas.
Mainly Melody Sauce for the melody, and Captain plugins for Arps and the Bass.
I like Scaler too, and ocassionally use it also.

I own the Orb plugins also, but I personally am not really satisfied with them tbh.

 

I tried orb on the sister suite and i'm not really into it.. It's too "electro" for me ! Thanks for your feedback, I'll maybe buy melody sauce ! It's really better than captain melody ?

 

Warning the Captain products have not yet ported to VST3 in case that's an issue for you.

EDIT: A week after I posted above, a VST3 version suddenly appeared. But on closer inspection they look like VST3 wrappers for the VST2 plugins. Not proper VST3's. Edit for fairness.

Hi, That is not an issue but... No VST3, internet connection required every time, plus the price... maybe that is not the best option. Melody Sauce 2 was at 39. Think I will wait for another promo and continue with scaler
