Where the HECK do you get info for building a Music Production PC that is actually good??

You don't expect people to read all 40 pages, right?
With today's CPUs we're way past all this anyway, any 8c/16t is more than enough for most people. As for latency CoreAudio has no rivals so get to hackintoshing.

No, nor I expect that they make clickbait thread every time they do new result, with titles like "OMG, Intel results are..." and stuff like that. These guys are doing this for more than decade and anyone who is genuinely interested in that could find what he seeks with doing simple thread search with processor name he's interested in, OP asked where he can get the info, I provided that answer, it's up to him to actually spend few seconds searching.

Other thing, would rather trust and search about what Pete Kaine from SCAN is writing, based on his experience in building and testing pro audio machines, while doing actual audio benchmarks than reading what you have to say about any of it.

    Oooh, passive-aggressive, aren't we?
    I'll give you a TL;DR
Old(er) plugins tend to scale better with higher single-core performance and higher clocks. As for how old I'd say anything that hasn't been updated/overhauled since ~2018, around the time where we finally got something better than 4c/8t for the high end consumer market. Contrary to popular belief not every producer owns a Xeon or Threadripper machine. While not a guarantee anything that's been updated to run on ARM (M1/M2) probably supports multi-threading well enough.
In the current high end market (7950X/13900K) the two are pretty much evenly matched with the 13900K squeezing out a victory through self-immolation.

If you're in the 7700X ballpark I'd say get a 13700K instead, it's better in every way. Though I'm still recommending a used 5950X.

Didn't you say earlier to forget Intel CPUs because they're furnaces?
Which, mind you, I don't disagree with. The 13700K eats 255w on Turbo, the 7700X 170w or so.
Problem is, I don't think my 650w PSU is enough to feed the 13700K + 1080ti. Would probably have to buy a 850w PSU for that.
And maybe it's just my country, but the 13700K is just short of being 100€ more expensive than the 7700X, so I wouldn't say it's exactly the same ballpark.

~100 bucks IS the same ballpark though.
And yes, it's a furnace but in this case the performance gap is way too wide. 7900X vs 13700K would be a better comparison and in that case I'd say go for the former since you can power limit it. If you aren't gonna game with this you could just sell the 1080 Ti they still fetch around 250 bucks used (here in Europe at least).
Or, again, get a used 5950X. With some luck you could probably find one at 13700K prices, even better if it's bundled with a motherboard. You're looking to spend around 300 bucks for a good X570 anyway.

Something's up with those Kontakt Polyphony results for the 13900K, both single and multi core benchmarks aren't THAT much better than the 7950X and it's hard to think that the X3D variants can score better even though I'm pretty sure Kontakt doesn't use the 3D cache. Sounds like the 7950X throttled during the polyphony test. Either that or their PBO settings are bugged and there's an extra 0.1v being pumped through their test CPUs - they might blow up.
Also lol did they seriously consider air cooling for these ~250W under load CPUs?

Yeah, it seems to be some bug with PBO2 on some motherboard and X3D processors and something deliberate on others, an extra 0.1v is being pushed to the CPU by accident. Mostly Gigabyte and MOSTLY lower-end Asus boards (though the HERO is obviously affected), Asus already pushed an update for this apparently. I'm gonna make sure to update on the first boot when I manage to get my AM5 rig up and running.

In an older update from the 21st they also removed the older BIOSes with manual Vcore control
Hopefully Asus just admits they fucked up and honors the warranty (including replacing CPUs)
Not so sure about Gigabyte, they've had an extremely shitty track record in the last few years
