It turns out it actually IS Joe Meek. I totally misremembered some details haha. Thank you everyone for your help!

By the way, if you have any suggestions for good quality hardware that isn't exorbitantly priced, I'd defintely like to hear them.

I mean...they're bright green. If you'd have mentioned that, we might have got there sooner

I had a Joe Meek V2 in the 90's which I paired with a 1st generation RÔDE Classic mic or an AKG 414 EB. Joni Mitchel's flute player Richard Hardy, when I recorded him for a friend's project said that he never got a better sax sound than that day (with the RÓDE pointing down from the ceiling).

Yeah I'm a fan of both of those. I always assumed they'd be quite expensive, even second-hand.

i recently saw a dbx 166 for 75€, sometimes the SPL channel strip (MKII) for less than 500.
Looking for Audient ASP800, i will get this if a cheap price comes along again (400-450).
also missed an Audient Centro/Sumo Combo:snuffy:

good stuff always comes around again:yes::no:

It is advisable in this regard to take a look at https://www.adt-audio.com/ProAudio/ToolModProAudio.html
They do have the same device configurations, just more and better.

I was looking at dbx stuff on eBay last night actually and I was surpised as to how inexpensive it is. I think some of their compressor models are better than others but I might grab one at some point. The 266xs looks like It might make for a good mixbus/mastering compressor.

Things get wallet deep real fast around that website for those channel strips, but without hearing them in action it might just be a good deal for those with the pockets to match their vision.

Yes, absolutely. Those things are indeed pretty expensive if you need a rack full of stuff.
However nowadays I am pretty certain, that one relly does not need more then 5-6 eq's in a project for mixing. I think people do not use busses enough and work too much on individual channels.

And I definetely know that those are really absolutely high quality devices without any marketing and/or fancy stuff.
