Guys

I have a support ticket open for an issue im having with cubase hanging while trying to load the SKI remote. Their advice is to uninstall and reinstall cubase when doing this do you need copy your plugin folder so it wont need to be installed again?

Im guessing most plugins will automatically fit back in place?? But what happens to those ones we get on here that we just place the dll files in place?

I don't get the question, if you're backing up the VSTPlugins folder then it will also backup the dlls that you place. It's the same thing an installer does...it places the VST dll in your folder. Both methods are the same kind of installation except in one the installer places the dll and in the other you place it. So long as the folder is backed up there is no difference between them.

Thanks. What i mean is if i am going to completely uninstall all cubase off my machine and reinstall do i need to manually copy the vst folders so that i can paste them back or will this happen automatically? I can remember how it works.

I assume, plugins that have been installed, with installer go back automatically? But those placed in as dll wont? Not sure what way to do it.

 

Just make sure to not delete the folder where your VST plugins are located. That's why if you use Cubase it's better to change the default location which is C:/Program Files/Steinberg/VSTPlugins to C:/Program Files/VSTPlugins. If you have it installed to the first location just make a backup of that folder or if not then use the 2nd folder and then uninstall and reinstall. If for any reason it gets accidentally removed then you can put it back from your backup.
