Thinking of selling my FabFilter plug-ins. It's been a few years since I got the cracked version, do they still time out in newer releases?

 

I believe this was fixed quite some time ago!

I've had zero issues with the versions released in the last year.

The R2R and CE-V.R releases are not properly cracked. They timebomb in Equalizer APO after 30 days. I wrote about it in this thread.

The only FF release that works fine in EAPO is "FabFilter - Total Bundle v2023.02.06 [x86 x64 VST, VST3]", by "Anonymous Cracker". And it's now a version behind the latest version.

Outside of EAPO, in a typical DAW like Reaper, even R2R and CE-V.R seem to work okay. So if you don't use EAPO you can probably just ignore this. But there's a chance that this problem will show up in some other host too.

I never had FF timebomb issues with R2R, my experience has been flawless so far.

100% valid and true, that's exactly my experience as well!

 

It's just short for Equalizer APO, a system-wide DSP implementation. It can also host VST plugins.

People who don't use EAPO with FabFilter VSTs probably don't notice that there is a problem with R2R and CE-VR cracks. But I've spent a lot of time to confirm that it indeed there is.
And props again to the "Anonymous cracker" for doing it right!

 

I personally don't think I'm going to loose any sleep over the fact that EAPO (I honestly never heard of it until now! ) is not working with the FF suite after 30 days? So as far as I'm concerned the R2R and V.R are perfect.

 

I thought there is a problem with daw, but its not. Some noname software like eapo... who cares eapo?

 

hi @aftereight, i didn't understand one thing.. this eapo is an equalizer for windows, right? what's the use of hosting plugins in an equalizer?

 

It could very well exist a timebomb that doesn't trigger in most software (DAWs) so it escaped R2R/VR and so on.
Or perhaps host/firewall usual measures doesn't apply the same way to EAPO, which is a different kind of software, more low-level. If I recall correctly.

 

Despite the name, it's not just an equalizer. Some people use it to add microphone effects and so on. But it's mostly used for correcting speakers and headphones with an EQ.

Yes, they probably only tested it in regular DAWs and didn't notice any problems.

No, it has nothing to do with internet access.


In any case, if those versions work in your DAW of choice, that's fine. It's just something I wanted to mention, because I hope R2R and CE-VR fix this at some point. Or that "Anonymous cracker" keeps releasing updates.
Equalizer APO is not a typical VST host for sure, but it still has a decent amount of users.

I mainly agree, that's an unlikely possibility.
What other non-DAW candidates would they exist? Perhaps that VoiceMeeter banana that makes virtual ASIO things and can host VSTs... not sure 100% about it though

 

R2R released a Checker apps for Fabfilter plugins, where you can check your installation if there's anything wrong with it that could trigger the timebomb or something.

 

R2R made it very far, but they did not unlock DOGEEPAOi compatability (one Russian dude still uses this old broken winXP microphone framework API from 2003 when editing in sound forge)
Thats why the only useful one was the crack by anonymous back in 2017.

But this is all sounds a bit too high level for you, its very complex nerd stuff, not supposed to be easy to understand for the average tool.
Maybe stick with stock EQ?

 

So what you're saying is that just because we don't understand all the nerdy details behind each crack we should not use them and stick with stock plugins? It's like saying if you don't know exactly how a subway comes in motion and what parts and materials are used in the engine you shouldn't use it and stick to walking?

 

Sigh... Well, I said everything that needs to be said about this particular problem.
People who are curious can read my posts in that other thread and verify for themselves that what I'm saying is true by testing. I wrote the reproduction steps in this post, so it should be easy to follow. But some familiarity with Equalizer APO is required (maybe check a guide for how to install it and how to add VSTs).

And no, the latest v2023.03.16 release by R2R does not fix this problem. But if don't care about EAPO, as I said, that's totally fine! You can keep using the R2R or CE-VR versions, they probably won't have any issues in your DAW.
And this is also not a dig at those teams, because I use some of their other software releases and I'm thankful for the work they did.


And lastly, I just found out that the FF bundle by "Anonymous cracker" has been updated to the latest version and released on some other websites (as Total Bundle v21.03.23 [Patched - Portable/Install]). No problems in EAPO with this one. Good job again!
