so it has been six months from September 2022 to the present since virtual DJ has been cracked TEAM R2R usually handles this software with no problem I'm assuming that ATOMIX has tightened its security since the new software update. does anyone know the new security system ATOMIX is using that is making it harder to crack virtual DJ?

I'm wondering that too, back then the updates were quite fast and now I'm checking the sister site like 3 times a day just for this one.

I am also interested in that. I check the sister site several times a day and keep searching the interwebs.
I wouldn’t have thought that I would be so desperate about it… Anyone have an idea? XD

From what I gather it's very likely the protection has been raised quite a bit. If not a lot.
Especially with that stem separation engine which is one of the hottest music technologies lately.

my take is that R2R is focused on other things maybe.

I think serial routine is the same as for 2021, just updated to represent new serial for 2023.
That is usually the case ...

From all these recent posts about VirtualDJ I had to go check it out and now I want to make the switch too  the UI and library are really clean, and stems from what I've been able to test are fire. Now I just want to test with my controller...

I feel like the fact its not on sistersite makes me want it even more. :dunno:

Are you saying you think the r2r keygen from 2021 would work for 2023? Has anyone tried this?
I assume probably not since it would have to be patched but..

I tried this and doesn't seem to work. The License.dat file is in the Documents folder ok, but not sure if Virtual DJ 2023 has changed the location or something?!

Yes indeed, the license and all the stuff are now in \Users\Yourname\AppData\Local\VirtualDJ

nooo this wont work, but usually devs take older version as basis and create new routine from that, which makes newer structure.

This would be really bad if older version keygen would work on new version. Not a mistake, which often happens.

Is the license.dat file just on it's own in that location, or within a folder?

When opening up Virtual DJ 2023 you get this popup:

    upload_2023-3-28_18-37-30.png

Does this mean Virtual DJ always has to connect to be authorised? Surely there's a way around this and they have locally stored license files?!

I have just tried placing the license.dat files in the \Users\Yourname\AppData\Local\VirtualDJ location and it still pops this up. At present, the only hosts file mod in place is the previous suggestion on the R2R release, being:

    0.0.0.0 live.virtualdj.com

I also tried blocking inbound and outbound communication with the Windows firewall, and it does work as the tutorials page doesn't load up in the settings and so on, but the above popup still comes up asking to log in.

Perhaps there does need to be a new R2R license.dat tool or maybe there's some new connections to block using the hosts file?!

Forgive me for sounding really stupid here but what exactly is the fascination with Virtual DJ 2023 anyway? If it's to do with stems, Ableton handles those easily!

Ableton cant create stems from full songs. but vdj stems tool is as weak as the one serato has. there are better alternatives outthere for free either offline or online.

No fascination as such, just liking the new features, new look, and the way you can make it look pretty good, even on my tiny 12" laptop  Just more curious about why the 2021 is available and the 2023 is unavailable 6 months later, so wondering why more than anything.....oh, that and GAS obvs

    * excuse the virtual keyboard that overlayed over the browser window when I was taking a screen grab

Interestingly, i just went over to my main machine to have a play, and when using Virtual DJ 2023 (after having R2R's 2021 installed and completely removed using IObit Uninstaller Pro), I just spotted this message while it was preparing the stems:

    upload_2023-3-28_19-37-35.png

Therefore, I am assuming there is something the 2021 R2R installs to make it work that 2023 picks up and identifies it as a "crack", and therefore refuses to run, so it seems like they have changed the authorisation checks, that are probably why the license.dat is now saved in a different location perhaps?!

No, definitely not! The "Stems 2.0" feature of VDJ 2023 sounds very good, comparable to what RipX does. And they are calculated in the background when files are openend. So you can start playing any song with stem separation immediately. The ability to use the EQ to actually level the stems on the fly is brilliant. With a 4 channel hardware mixer you can even use 4 channel EQs to level the stems and use the standard EQ of 2 decks at the same time. The full 5 stem mixing is also very useful for electronic music, you can mute the kick and bass seperately instead of using a low cut filter or EQ. Also the vocal separation is outstanding for a DJ software.

Serato's stems sound much worse, more like the 2021 version of VDJ with the old stem algorithm. Time stretching is also very good in VDJ 2023 and on par with Serato's additional "pitch'n'time DJ" algorithm. I'm really impressed of the quality and usefullness of the new stem algo.

Connecting your Tidal account is very easy and works fine with the free version (without controller). So you can play any Tidal file and have instant access to instrumentals or acapellas. There may be better sounding algos in other software products, but the ability to use it on the fly without preparing anything is very useful.

EDIT: I quoted the wrong guy I meant to quote Sylenth.Will.Fall
Its not about creating stems tho, its about having stems created for you automatically while you are DJing a set. Every song you load in creates stems at the same time it analyzes for bpm etc... So you don't have to pre-plan all your stem stuff

Like you might decide mid set yo this vocal is sick and I want it to continue but i need to drop this next track in, so instead of doing some crazy EQing or having the Acapella already, you can just deactivate all the stems except vocals. And you can still use the EQ after maybe you want to brighten the vocals a bit but without getting all the hihats and stuff.
Its not perfect but in the context of another song playing over it you won't hear artifacts and it actually works really well.
