I hate subscriptions too , but i'm also convinced that if more and more greedy companies turn to subscriptions , there is more money in it.
We as users may not see it , but there is gotta be a way to milk the cow. Companies don't rely on experiments. They use already proven to work plans.

I'm still using win7. Waves gave up on me long before I gave up on them!

Nice list. But the alternative for Doubler is Soundtoys Microshift, not Little AlterBoy. Eventide Quadravox works completely different as well. You can't use it as a replacement for Waves Doubler. None of these alternatives offer as much control like Waves Doubler does and result in a similar sound. It's one of the early Waves Plugins which is really good.

API2500 alternatives: UAD, Plugin Alliance Lindell Audio SBC

it's not my chart, and it's being constantly updated past few hours, pretty sure it'll grow next few days and improve

This is correct given my experience as well. ANY newer version releases always seemed to just AT BEST maybe sport a new interface or some tiny little addition (if you're lucky) - there was and still is little to NO operational difference to most any of their stuff other than the next version number markers being tattooed on the interface. So given this knowledge, unless you're looking for a brand new previously unreleased plugin that has never before been seen, why would anyone "upgrade"? Other than for a major change like going from 32 to 64 bit (all of them have been 64bit for quite some time), or you need VST3 versions instead of VST2 etc, there's no reason to upgrade anything.

Nice starting point. But for example plugins like ns-1, Izotope RX can get the similar results.
but the ease of use & foolproofness is unmatched or at least such plugin is not on the list yet.

Many soft companies are moving in the same way, they have a bloodsucker behaviour selling technique, they like to come back for more money using a "subscription" scheme.

If you have been purchasing their products since a time in some way they have stack a knife in your back. It is legal but clearly dishonest, specially because they have kept the change secret so far.

What a bunch of bozos they are

At some point I guess we'll all mostly stop using their stuff. Nobody here subscribing to that shit haha. I've been using them for a LONG time though! An annoying part of this is how deeply some of their plugins are built into my mixes, it’ll make future revisions harder once my current Waves version is no longer usable. There are definitely a few hard to replace plugins

CLA 76. Yup! Sure we all have a dozen 1176 plugins. I do too (paid and otherwise), yet I still use this one A LOT. It has a unique kind of attack that works so well. It just cracks really hard. Same with their SSL G Comp, though less so. Anyone know an 1176 that hits like that? UAD, Arturia, Overloud, Purple, IK, don’t do this unfortunately, even when they have a cooler tone overall.

InPhase - tough to replace!!! Anyone know of any direct substitutions? I know it can be done manually but… well fuck that

Their ADT is pretty sweet. I can’t think of a replacement. Anyone?

I’ve gotten a lot of use from their PAZ stereo analyzer. Kind of an odd one to miss perhaps. It does what it does, and when you need that thing it’s perfect. There are other plugins with that kind of stereo field metering but I’ve never gotten to know any since I just stuck with PAZ.

Their SSL EV2 and Mixhub still don’t sound as good as the brainworx or UAD versions so no biggie there. Mix Hub Lite’s tones remind me of the UAD SSL Legacy plugin. UAD’s full version will eat all your DSP in one or two instances. The Waves “buckets” thing is cool, I wish bx would do something similar. I’d love to check out the SSL 9000 XL on Console 1 sometime, the whole Console 1 / SSL combo intrigues me! Waves’ old SSL channel was always pretty good but for some reason has been buggy on my machines forever so I never got into it. Guess I never will now! Lol

As mentioned before, their noise reduction plugins are pretty good too yeah. Other brands’ versions will often sound or work better but Waves are good too.

Sort of an obituary I’m writing here haha. Nice knowing ya Waves, now go play in traffic or something.

Uhmmm sounds like waves going in bankruptcy soon…no real innovation and changing strategy like this is meaning alot to me.
Selling my account then, i do use most uad, fabfilter soundtoys, slate, pa, mcdsp…
Is 3 years that i dont use any waves plugin since they never really improved their quality, i still don’t understand what you guys like in fhe 2023 on waves.

I ditched Waves over 2 years ago. Nowadays the only people I know that catch Waves are surfers & they do it for free, without a subscription plan.

The only actual pros who rely on waves plugins are front of house mixers who use waves soundgrid and hardware. And I don't think that all of these locations have internet access all the time. I guess that's why all the sound grid stuff is not part of the bundle (yet). It's always a great move to upset pro users who paved the way for a company in the beginning by paying top dollar… NOT.

Dude, you are the real MVP! Can't tell you how grateful I am for this list. Glad someone has slapped it together, do they still update it? Either way this is way beyond handy. How do you download this as a file to your computer?
