That may be true, but they can't retroactively un-'k older versions. What is the newest addition of anything that you really need; or even want? Most of their best stuff is from old versions and they keep adding bloat and junk to it, so they might attract new customers. It's not worth a half hour of install time just for some "new" mix controls, or whatever minor other thing they may add. The "hardware accelerator" interface version is maybe next around any corner with them.

You see 1000 comments about Cosmos or Cr8 and everyone trying to get them to work, finally they do; and you never hear about them again.

Trackcomp2 does look nice. I love having new things to specifically check out based on someone's recommendations. Especially when they were already installed by some bundle everyone gets for one plugin or two. In this case, Limitless or Equilibrium.

CONCERNING FX: Waves, not doubt about it, they have been done them since a lot of time and with very good results, have a huge catalog and the older ones have been improved during more than a few years, they are quite useful providing very good results. Arturia is new concerning FX.

Anyway if you like OLD gear emulations or NEW Designs you should take a look to ACUSTICA (acustica-audio) products (Check the Nebula and Aqua Plugs), IMO the more serious competitor in Channel Strips, Equalziers and Compresors, perhaps the most serious developer in those specific "FX"

My original answer was based on the option Waves or Arturia.
However there are plenty of other brands out there... Softube are not cheap but are very good quality although their emulations rarely provide any additional controls that would not appear on the hardware. TrackComp is a very powerful and good plugin, but its also just a compressor, when you say analogue models are you only talking about compressors?
Look there are lots of really great plugins out there including the stock plugins in your DAW, no one can really tell you what you need or can afford, to be honest you really don't need most of them....
As for buying bundles, it can work out a lot cheaper, but then you end up with like 6 x 1176 clones..!
If your asking what brand makes the best emulations now that's a different thing and not for the fainthearted.
Try demos, (cough, Sister Site), and see what works for you. But IMHO if you want to start somewhere on a budget, be legit and like 80's tones, then buying into the Arturia ecosystem is a fairly good move, the more you buy the cheaper it gets, and if 80's synths are your thing the V Collection will teach you a lot. However there are better emulations out there.
Look you can make music on anything, when I was making music in the 80s I had a Juno 6, a Tascam 4 track, a bass guitar and a reverb that sounded like a tin can. If you want to do 80s music, invest in a chord book and grab a free really shit reverb VST.
Most of all good luck, have fun and don't get conned into thinking the next plugin is going to make your music better, only you can do that....

@No Avenger answered it up there. 6 more days. I own about 30 Waves legit plugins that I never used now, bought (plus free stuff) them long time ago, still have an account and getting the newsletter.

 

My taste to plugins are really strange. Lots and lots of people that i admire like those plugins. I don't like neither, not because they don't have a sound (they sounds good); with black rooster i never found anything interesting to implement or replace on my arsenal. Noiseash has too much thd for my ears, really good saturation and tone, but for me is too much.

PSP is top tier, i love it;
And i would replace Black Rooster for Fuse Audio Labs, because they have more interesting toys for my taste
