    Last Monday, drummer Jim Gordon died of natural causes in a mental hospital at the age of 77, according to various news sites.

    Gordon's name is likely to be found in many recording companion texts by rock fans. For example, he was a drummer and founding member of Derek & The Dominos, drumming on George Harrison's All Things Must Pass, the Beach Boys' "Pet Sounds," Steely Dan's Pretzel Logic, and Frank Zappa's Apostrophe.

    His career ended tragically when he became ill with schizophrenia and killed his mother in 1983 because he was told to do so by voices. Since this act he sat in a mental hospital, where he has now died.
