    Hello.
    Please help.

Initially, I was installing something. When that happens, I notice that Windows is unstable. Then I made the decision to return to the earlier system restore I had made, which was completely problem-free.

I believed my issue had been resolved once I had gone back to the restore point. The next day, I couldn't launch Google Chrome, which I had installed a long time before.
Then I decided to remove Google Chrome and reinstall it from the official website.
Finally, Google Chrome is operating normally.

    But.

The first issue I ran into when I opened one of the DAWs (Studio One 5).
My Studio One is stuck, and the scan never even begins. :dunno:

I attempted to cancel, then I went directly to my project. Then something unusual appears, as shown in this image.

Then I tried going back to the restore point where it was before I installed new Google Chrome from official web, and the problem on Studio One is gone as well as to my primary DAW, Cubase.

In addition, some shortcut icon to be blank.

My Jbridge doesn't work on Cubase either.

I've tried using Revo Uninstaller to completely reinstall all the apps involved in this issue. But, this problem persists whenever I install Google Chrome or any other VST.
I've been trying to fix the issue for a few days, but I can't keep going back to the restore point forever, right.

Is anyone willing to give the best solution to this problem?
Or must I re-install the OS again?
    :suicide:

Please help, thanks in advance.

    My system :
    Windows 11 21H2 (64bit)
with Cubase and Studio One Installed.
    Core i3 12100F with DDR4 RAM 16 GB.
VGA driver is up to date.
Always work in music project offline.

    :shalom:

    Edit 1 :
Used CCleaner too, and doesn't solve the problem.

    Edit 2 :
Used these commands on Powershell as Admin :
    SFC /SCANNOW
    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup
    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
    But problems still exist.

    Edit 3 :
    Used :
    chkdsk C: /f
    But problems still exist.

If I want to reinstall the OS, can I move the Steam Omnisphere & Trilian folder to another directory and then just re-download the installer?

hopefully you have full system drive backup elsewhere to reload?
    :trashing:
btw as far as I know, registry backup feature was completely removed few releases ago, so it no longer works at all

Hi @tzzsmk , thanks for response.
    Unfortunately I don't have.

Do you believe it would be preferable for me to reinstall the OS so that things can continue more reliably rather than to keep looking for solution?

Hi @Coochie Bean Paste , thanks for response.
Luckily, I didn't lose my music at this precise moment. Just wasted time and energy trying to solve this issue. It's been a few days.

I initially had the same thought.
Because full compatibility with my old drivers is still secure.
And so far, I've had no problems using Windows 11 to create music.

Till now, there haven't been any major issues outside the issue I'm currently dealing with.

This actually shocked me because I always assumed System Restore was the last hope in the event Windows suffered a serious malfunction.

only you can answer that question, depending on how much stuff you had configured, installed, customized etc...
if it's "almost-fresh" system, then I would wipe the drive and start again (making sure ALL my DATA is saved elsewhere), it would take < 1 hour with average SSD
    :chilling:
speaking of system restore functionality, I'll try in some of my virtual machines, definitely a topic I would like to take a look myself

Honestly, reconfiguring all the installations and reinstalling every piece of software I use will take a few days. But it would be much better if there was a fix for this issue that didn't require reinstalling the operating system.

Have you ever cloned OS data from SSD to SSD as a back up? If so, what software have you used and is it reliable?
Do you use SSD slot to SSD slot on your motherboard?
Or are you using an SSD docking/enclosure?

    I'm also interested in this.
