The Pogues are 100% an Irish band if you're picking between the two. They're British formed but all Irish stock and their sensibilities are Irish. There's other English bands of completely Irish blood(the smiths, Oasis) that Ireland couldn't claim as they have a completely British perspective but the Pogues are Irish, don't believe me, ask them!
