That is a very good question. I used to be concerned about both... you're absolutely right. However, the reason why I only worry about the keygen now is that I trust my antivirus software to catch a virus in the software installer. If my antivirus software pops up saying this has a virus, it would not be a false-positive. Keygen false-positives are very common, however. So, I really just run them in a sandbox just in that 1/1000th case where it really isn't a false positive. I could also just run the keygen and assume it's fine and see what my a/v does, but I'm pre-programmed now, and can't seem to break the cycle of being careful with keygens, just by default

Also, the way I see it, is it's an added layer of security for me.

The other, smarter way of doing things would be to run a VM, install stuff, ensure for a bit that nothing is infected, then install on your real machine. Lots of people do it that way too, but it does take up space to run a VM, and I'm also a bit lazy. lol

Also, I'd stress that my first layer of security is only downloading from the two sources I absolutely trust. Even if it says "R2R", I wouldn't be grabbing it from some random torrent site then installing it.

I just looked through IK Multimedia's site. I believe they have a product manager app you need to use to authorize the software first before you can download the Amplitube install files. So I don't think getting the manufacturers install files is an option on this one.

 

Yes, this is the recommended way to install their products because it automatically activates the license for the computer you are using and is convenient for most legitimate users. but this is not the only way to install.

In case others have similar questions you can get the software direct. When I did it I installed the prod manager app as suggested above but I didn't have to do the Beat Magazine code as it already had 5.5.3 CS available to download. I let it install and selected to not register automatically. Then I used the special power of trust and just used the keygen to unlock it. Unless I missed something there does not seem to be any way to register offline with a key. It always has to go through the manager app. So keygen. Thanks again for your time and help.
