UBK-1 is NOT meant to be a distressor as far as I know...
The interaction between its controls is wonderfully complex and I've too had amazing results with it on drums (as @5teezo has said)
I really dig all things Kush and the only thing I would add is a dry-wet control on Clariphonic.

    Look this:

His plugins oldest one are a little bit different than newest, meter are just here to see energy of the sound instead of dB

I don't use often plugins because they always stay digital, I prefer to work with hardware stuff, intruments and effetcs, but one of the only plugins brand I use is kush because, they sound just like I like, always improve sound I pass trought. I use pusher, Omega T, Reddi, Novatron, and UBK1. I use these plugins on very different sources depend of my tracks and mood.

At least he is a fair guy that compensates the gain, although the sound was better without the plugins
I think this is a clear example, by Kush himself, how his plugins can make your mix muddy AF

I haven't used their plugins, but some of their videos are interesting.
They give a "stoner" (Kush) take on things.

That guy's choker necklace is a bit wierd...But hey, some engineers paint their nails, some have terrible mohawk haircuts...

    To each their own

I actually started watching his channel just a couple of weeks ago, and for the first time in a while I found a channel that actually offers useful advice for people who are actually putting the work into getting better at mixing. These days, it seems that most channels are all about dialing some settings and crossing your fingers that this "amazing trick" will work, but if not, there's probably other 10 similar tricks to try.

I also find the tutorials strangely soothing, almost meditative. Haven't tried the plugins, though. I'm pretty happy with my chain at this moment.

What seems to be overlooked here is that Gregory Scott makes fantastic hardware, some of which is modelled by the plugin versions.

The Omega plugins in particular are designed to work with the hardware Omega mic pre so will obviously give a markedly different result when used with a different pre. They can still provide desirable colouration however in certain contexts.

Personally I really like some of his plugins and rate them very highly. I'm more of a clean cold digital guy when it comes to ITB EQ and most compression duties so I tend to use a variety of coloured plugins for their distortion characteristics rather than the actual EQ or compression. The Kush plugins provide some unique tonal qualities that I find work well in many situations. They behave a lot more like hardware than most emulations in my opinion. I'd even go as far as using some of them on a master bus to add colour for a particularly sterile ITB mix, if need be, as they can be used in a subtle and forgiving manner.

Yes that is exactly why gregory plugins are awesome, they have a bit and a character perfect for sterile ITB.
