Hi everybody. I just formatted my disk and when install Serum and clicking on icon there is no answer. Program doesn´t start. I have no idea what´s happening with this.

Can somebody help me? Version is 1.35b1 but I tried with others and same problem.

look, download innoextract, its a 2mb file. Then extract any of your SERUM .exe installers. You can drop the SERUM installer on inneoextract.exe or use command prompt if you are on Windows. And drag n drop the needed files, to the "right" place / folder...usually its the x64 .vst3 file or .dll file and the preset folder you need.

 

Potentially, further information is required. I mean it's quite a vague statement. Although, respectfully, that may be all you have to go on!...

Could be an array of issues, from security software, bad patching to I do believe most serum releases, certianly historicaly, did not include the standalone I.e were vst and alike only..

Sure someone well further this.....

All replies are welcome. This plugin was working last week before system disk format. Installed as ever.

 

do you have problems with other installers? Or just Serum? Do you have another PC? Try to extract the files there and put them on a USB and try to move or copy files back to your PC. Or try to put the innoextract and the serum installer on USB and try to extract it there. Do you have more than 1 disc in your pc? Try to do the extract on them...

 

Well I´ve done installation in other PC with Windows 7 and it works... No more problems with other installers. Only Serum. Yes, I have more disks. I´ll try to copy files from Windows 7 pc to this. Thanks.

Final 2pence from me, getting out my depth now.....

Two points of concern, assuming we are happy we have covered all scenarios and suggestions above...... which is important

Firstly, I note you have done a reformat. You claim said title was working prior to this.

Unsure as to requirements, however, after a reformat .net, C+ vcredist, various types of run times and alike require reinstalling / updating. This is fundamental. You must ensure this is done.


Secondly, to clarify and to help others who may help you going forwards, you seem to imply you have tried various releases. Clearly approaches are different etc etc. I'd state we are all assuming you have done your house keeping so to speak between chopping each version. I.e ran revo or alike etc etc to completely remove all traces of prior version before installing new.

Also, you are following install processes directly. I mean for example in prior times changing write properties on a dat file was a requirement, however now I believe it has an adverse effect. To be doing this without prompt today, may cause issues.

To me the second points a given, but I would really focus on point 1 run times and alike.

Again, clarifying these points well really help others to help you going forwards.

I also wonder about runtime packages, etc.
After a new win install I usually go 2-days checking updates before I expect everything to work again. I use an all-in-one runtime package from "Tech Powerup" as well.

Usually the process of installing some stuff will include runtime libraries and you might not realize, because you did not install it yourself separately.
In that way you can't expect everything to run as it did on your old setup...unless it includes everything that was in your old setup.

Not sure what runtime libs or other things are needed for Serum standalone, though.

So, there is a problem running the standalone.
What about as a plugin within a DAW?
The first point being : scan with DAW and see if there are any errors and if the plugin shows.
If it's good, try loading it.

 

First of all thanks to everybody for the replies.

I have no idea about how it was, but the resume is this: installed 1.36b3 version and didn´t work. Runtimes are all installed and Windows Update says everything is on its place. Looking for old files in backups found and executable for Serum and replaced in the folder where Serum is installed. And it worked! Looking at "About" it´s 1.351 version, and I had time to add 5.000 presets. Working in standalone and DAW.
